His scholarship ticket to the next level may well be on the gridiron, but Murphy is awfully tough on the hardwood as well. The 5’11” point guard is as explosive as anyone in the gym. He attacks the basket so fearlessly and can elevate to finish over and around size. Murphy was a big part of EG10 17u’s win on Friday evening.

Murphy’s recruitment is starting to take off on the gridiron, but he is playing very well on the hardwood as well. There is always such a plethora of guards coming through the Ben Davis program that it can take awhile to see who will rise to the top and become a key piece. This super athletic 6’0″ guard has done just that as a rising senior. Murphy is so explosive when getting downhill and can be a very disruptive defender. He is now ranked in our Top 100 after the latest update.

17U team, Murphy plays with a ton of smoothness to is game with really good court vision on the ball. He is a good decision maker on the ball and handles it well enough to be able to make moves to get the defense off of him. I expect him to step up in a big time role for the Giants starting in the summer.

A tenacious two way player that made big time plays in the game I saw. Although only 6’1”, Murphy showed his defensive versatility with being able to guard multiple positions and being on time with rotations. Really good on the ball using his quickness and playing with active hands. Offensively he thrives in transition and is dynamic getting to the basket where he can finish in crafty ways around length.
