Kyle had a dominant performance on Saturday, leaving the defense with no answers whatsoever. He looked really good creating off the dribble for himself or for his teammates and was scoring from both inside and outside. He used his size to his advantage in the post and knocked down shots from beyond the arc as well. Jorgensen carried his Minneapolis Washburn team to a win over Eastview, scoring a game-high 34 points.
Dave has been a key piece to this Hopkins team thus far in the season, as they are sitting as a top-5 team in class AAAA with a record of 4-1. His frame and athleticism stand out to me the most, but I have also been really impressed with his shooting and ability to finish at full speed in transition. He’s a swiss-army-knife kind of player and had a season-high 21 points in the win over Lakeville South.
Brady had a great showing on Saturday, doing a lot of work inside, whether it was with his scoring or rebounding. He used his size advantage to go to work on smaller opponents, finishing through multiple defenders at once. He showed his shooting abilities with a pull-up triple as well. The top ranked 2025 prospect in Minnesota finished the win over Eden Prairie with 18 points on 8/9 shooting, while also tallying 10 rebounds.

Chiang has been a game changer for Park Center this season and allows all of his teammates to play more aggressive defensively as he can hold down the painted area. As usual, he picked some highlight reel blocks and dunks, but also looked good playing out on the perimeter, knocking down a couple triples. Ring is still the top uncommitted senior left in the state and could make an immediate impact at the next level with his versatility on both ends of the floor.
JJ has had a fantastic start to his junior season and it was on full display once again on Saturday. His game is so smooth and the confidence he has with the ball in his hands is pretty rare for someone his size. He is great at shooting off the dribble and can shoot right over smaller defenders. I have also been impressed with his ability to attack the rim and draw fouls. Semanko had a solid 15 points in the win over Lakeville South.

Temi was the x-factor on Saturday and was making all the necessary plays to help his team find success. He was a beast on the boards and was coming up with hard fought rebounds on both sides of the ball. I also love the energy and effort he brings on the defensive end of the floor, making opponent’s lives very difficult. He added some nice finishes inside as well, finishing the win over BSM with 9 points.

Jon turned in a solid performance on Saturday and showed off the developments he has made to his game since last season. He was making some big plays inside with his length and athleticism on both ends of the floor, but was effective when working on the perimeter with the ball in his hands as well. He connected with a couple tough triples and also converted on some scores around the rim on his way to 16 points.
Jalen had a nice second half on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to get a win versus a loaded Park Center team. All of his scores were inside the painted area, working against the best shot blocker in Minnesota. I am impressed with his ability to attack the rim with quickness and physicality, all while remaining under control for a high percentage finish. He finished the game with 12 points.
Highlights
Despite the loss, the top ranked freshman in Minnesota made some big plays on Saturday in the matchup with Orono. Schlagel totaled 11 points and scored all of his baskets inside the three-point line. He capped some nice finishes at the rim through traffic, but I was most impressed with some of the shots he connected with in the mid-range. This included a tough turnaround fadeaway, shooting right over the outstretched arm of a defender.
Nate’s game stood out to me on Saturday, as I was not familiar with him as a player. His combination of length and shooting abilities is pretty rare and he turned in a great performance in the win over Eden Prairie. He connected with three triples and was automatic in the catch-and-shoot. He also used his long 6’6” frame to haul in rebounds and cause disruption defensively. Chavez is only a junior and has looked good sliding into the Orono starting lineup so far this season.
