The top five has quite a bit of change from the very top on down, as this is the class that was affected the most by the debut of Rosemary Anderson Prep. Here’s a quick look.
Carr is the new number one ranked player in the Class of 2025 and it’s mostly because he’s the highest recruited player in the state in any class. The 6-foot-4 guard’s stock exploded during the spring and summer playing with both his Central Catholic and on the AAU circuit and the scholarship offers started to pour in, which led to him decommitting from the University of Portland to explore all of the options. The fall has been busy at Central Catholic as Division I coaches have flocked into Portland to watch Carr play at open gyms. Stanford is the latest school to offer, joining Oregon, Oregon State, New Mexico, UNLV, Pepperdine, and Portland among others.
The previous number one, Boe stays near the top at number two. Arguably the best combination of strength and skill in all of 6A, the 6-foot-4 guard can do practically everything on the court and he helped lead Mountainside to a share of the Metro League title and a return visit to the state tournament while earning First Team All-State honors. While he had a solid year playing with Team Beauchamp in AAU ball, he still remains a little under the radar recruiting-wise, although he does hold offers from Boise State, Portland, Seattle, Montana, and Weber State.
A newcomer to Oregon’s Class of 2025, McCullough jumps right into the top five as arguably the top college prospect on the Rosemary Anderson Prep. At 6-foot-5, the California native plays at the point and has tremendous ball-handling and passing ability for his size. We’ve seen him play in one scrimmage and in a practice and we noticed right away his ability to get to the basket and create for himself and others. Defensively, he shows great potential as well as a stopper with his length and quickness and while no scholarship offers are reported at this time, there’s no question in our minds he’s a high-level D-I recruit.
Another newcomer to Oregon’s Class of 2025 is Cox, who also comes in as a point guard and one with multiple D-I offers including one from Arizona State. At 6-foot-1, he’s smaller than teammate McCullough but differs in that speed is more critical to his game as he really gets up and down the floor in a hurry. From what we’ve seen in practice and in one scrimmage, the Memphis native is also a deadeye outside shooter, whether it’s setting up for three or pulling up in the lane off the dribble. (Late note – it appears that Cox has decided to return home to Tennessee and will play at Central High School in Memphis, so adjustments to the rankings will be made in the next update.)
The third member from Rosemary Anderson Prep in the top five is Anderson, who arrived in Oregon from Las Vegas. At 6-foot-6 and a strong build, he’s an inside-outside offensive threat that brings to mind a little bit of Carmelo Anthony in our eyes. The Prospects aren’t a big team so he’ll be counted upon to help out a lot inside but his perimeter shooting and ball-handling skills are solid. Anderson doesn’t have any reported scholarship offers yet but similar to others on the Prep team, projects as a D-I talent.
