Drew Timmons Drew Timmons 6'6" | SF Archbishop Hannan | 2025 State #52 Nation LA (6’6″ / Archbishop Hannan) – Timmons is one of the most versatile players in the Louisiana high school ranks. He is a player who can play the guard, wing, or post and be highly effective from all three. Timmons can also score from behind the arc. He is a threat from everywhere on the floor and he has some bounce as well. Definitely a tough cover for defenders.
Christopher Cenac Christopher Cenac 6'9" | SF Isidore Newman | 2025 State #54 Nation LA (6’9″ / Newman) – Cenac is one of the rising stars in the south. He has impressed during his two summers on the UAA and EYBL circuits. Cenac can score from the mid-range and in the paint. His best work comes on the offensive boards where his long reach and activity come into play. Cenac is still improving and could possibly be the top player before his career at Newman is over.
Christopher Birden Christopher Birden 6'8" | SF Isidore Newman | 2025 State #282 Nation LA (6’8″ / Newman) – Birden plays the game like a true small forward/wing. He is always attacking from the perimeter and gets to the rim with ease at times. Birden is improving his shot from the perimeter which will only enhance his ability to be an offensive threat. His ability to defend wings, forwards, and bigs also makes him an asset on the floor for the Greenies.
Jeremiah Lucas Jeremiah Lucas 6'4" | SG Bonnabel | 2025 State #311 Nation LA (6’2″ / Bonnabel) – Lucas is one of the premier shooters and scorers on the high school level. He has the ability to put it on the deck and get to the rim on one possession while nailing an NBA range three on the next. Lucas can also finish and facilitate in transition. He is a guard who can makes plays when he has the ball in his hands.
Xavier Ferguson Xavier Ferguson 6'2" | CG Zachary | 2025 State #322 Nation LA (6’2″ / Zachary) – Ferguson is one of the more versatile guards we have in the Boot. He can score from all three levels and defend as many as three positions. His ability to facilitate the offense and play off the ball makes him a dual threat guard. He is a guard who can go for big numbers because of his versatility. Ferguson can also rebound better than most guards.
Antron Mason II Antron Mason II 6'1" | CG Wossman | 2025 State LA (6’1″ / Wossman) – Mason is probably the premier scoring point in Louisiana. He led Wossman in scoring several times during their run to Marsh Madness last season. This summer, while splitting his time between football and basketball, he still found time to put up big numbers on the hardwood. Mason is a point who is a threat from half court in during most games.
Lantavious Murphy Lantavious Murphy 6'3" | SG Rayville | 2025 State LA (6’3″ / Rayville) – Murphy was the best player in Louisiana who did not play on a shoe circuit team. He is a five tool basketball player. Murphy can score at all levels, rebound, defend, run a team, and makes hustle plays. He fills a stat sheet better than any player in the Boot. His play is often the catalyst for a Hornet win and will be something to watch this coming season.
Chris Shiflett Chris Shiflett 5'10" | PG Evangel | 2025 State LA . (5’10” / Evangel) – CJ, as he is affectionately known, is a true point guard that can score. He has the basketball IQ and court vision to break even some of the best defensive teams down. If they stop him from being a facilitator, he often times shoots them out of what they do defensively. Shiflett is a big time talent who is only getting better as a point.
Jamal Drewery Jamal Drewery 5'10" | PG Scotlandville | 2025 State LA (5’10” / Scotlandville) – Drewery has been playing varsity since he was in the 8th grade and has never looked rattled since being one. He is a point guard who can change speeds and get to the rim. Drewery is just as lethal in transition and makes plays for others more times than not. He is about as good as it gets running a team and makes others around him better.
Kobe Butler Kobe Butler 6'7" | SF Archbishop Shaw | 2025 State LA (6’6″ / Archbishop Shaw) – Butler is a new entry to the top 10 and has the potential to be in the top 5 when it is said and done. He is a wing who can defend the paint on defense and do multiple things offensively. His height, vertical, and wing span make him a terror on both ends of the floor. Butler is still a work in progress from the wing. When he nails that part, the sky is the limit.
The 2025 top ten is a talent rich group that is still getting better. That is scary for the people that they will take the floor against this season. Look for them to be some of the notable talents whenever they step on the hardwood across the state.
