Tom Keller | Prep Hoops Scout
The inside out side forward impressed with his versatility for South Kent. He showed that he can space the floor. Birden was active inside on the boards and was able to extend possessions. He gathered free points at the foul line. Birden should be on the radars of LM+/MM- programs.

Birden is probably the most exciting prospect on South Kent’s roster because of his combination of size, length and athleticism. The 6-foot-9 forward gets off the ground so quickly and uses his incredibly long wingspan to get rebounds, blocks, and offensive rebounds at a very high clip. Right now, he excels as a driver who can finish athletically with both hands and only needs a couple steps to get to the rim from the perimeter. Birden also shoots it well from the free throw line and could certainly improve his three-point shot as time goes on. Birden’s potential is through the roof and if he can put it all together offensively, he could be a high-major level player.

Only returner on the South Kent Prep Roster. He is long, lean but don’t let that trick you. He is stronger than last year with improved balance. An improved consistent shooter from long range who has the ability to carry his team night in and night out. Currently holds 5 D1 offers but schools better hurry up before it is too late. His endurance and energy is magnificent leading to him being a double double machine. Guards well enough to alter any shot from any positional player. Prediction is he will have 20 plus offers before end of season and Top 5 most improved in consistency in NEBL.

Birden, the #16 prospect overall and #4 ranked Power Forward, stands out with his combination of athleticism, length, positional size, and skill. He’s the prototype for the modern forward with the ability to make shots from behind the arc, while also impacting games as an athletic finisher around the rim. Defensively, he can guard in space or around the rim, using his length to be disruptive in passing lanes and to block or alter a high number of shots around the basket. The Division I prospect has a handful of offers to his name and recently completed a visit to Texas State.

Birden is a major breakout candidate heading into the season after performing at a high level this summer with New Heights. The South Kent prospect is long, lean, and athletic, and has defensively versatility that allows him to guard up and down a position, while also protecting the rim. He’s a fluid athlete that has the ability to play on the wing, but his size and shot making ability makes him a mismatch at the forward spot. He’s got a quick release on his jumper, can get it off against any defender, and has a really nice feel for how to move off of drives. On top of that, he’s a serious lob threat in the half-court and an electric finisher at the rim. He’ll play at the Division I level, with offers this summer from Cal Baptist, East Tennessee State, Northeastern, and Texas State.

Birden is a 6’9″ forward out of South Kent School. The 2026 prospect is a high level floor spacer with great positional size that has been playing the best basketball of his career lately. He was a stock riser this spring and summer, showcasing above the rim athleticism and elite versatility. He has great positional length and at 6’9″, plays with the inside-out scoring ability that coaches covet. He makes shots consistently in catch and shoot situations, attacks the rim in transition, and can put the ball on the floor as a straight line driver. When his motor is up, he’s a high level defensive rebounder with the ability to guard any spot on the floor.

Birden, a jumbo hybrid forward out of South Kent School in Connecticut, appears in the rankings at #50. At 6;9″, he has exceptional positional size and length, while also showing some nice athletic pop in the paint. He runs the floor well in transition, knocks down shots in catch and shoot situations, and can finish plays above the rim as an off-bal cutter. He moves well in space, has a huge catch radius, and uses his athleticism to his advantage as a finisher. He continues to take steps as a creator with the ball in his hands. Defensively, he uses his length well and has the ability to guard on the wing or in the paint. He’s a Division I prospect that, if he puts it all together, could see his recruitment reach the highest of levels due to his combination of size, skill, and athleticism.
