Samson has delivered on early expectations, establishing himself as an X-factor through six games. He’s averaging 6.0 points a game, he stretches defenses with his shooting while also attacking closeouts and finishing inside. He plays with feel, keeps possessions alive, and rebounds well for his position. His ability to score in different ways has added another layer to Grandview’s offense and continues to turn heads. We want to see him get back in a groove as Grandview is best when he’s assertive and making plays happen, but is certainly a player that we’ve seen stand out to start the year.

We’ve seen Samson a few times, this summer as well as at Fall showcase, and liked what we saw from Samson. He’s a spark for Grandview and has thrived in that sixth-man role and produces as soon as he checks in. He’s decisive with the ball, brings real energy defensively, and finds ways to impact games without needing volume touches. He’s capable of breakout scoring nights and had a few of those. Consistency is the separator and will earn him even more minutes. We’ve seen him leave his mark, and he’s a solid prospect positioned to build real momentum this year, we just want to see it.

Samson has been especially productive with IBA this past summer, capable of handling the ball under pressure. Able to make quick decisions on the go, the guard has no trouble playing within a fast paced environment. Often seeking driving lanes from ball screens or following a poor closeout, Samson does a great job maintaining his value as a downhill scorer. He showed a balance between scoring and playmaking, active on kickouts or entry passes for post scorers. Samson’s ability to add strength will be necessary for his success against older opponents.
