Expert Analysis
Duvalier Johnson | Prep Hoops Scout
Stroope’s been on our radar all summer, and every time we’ve seen him, he’s popped. He’s got excellent size, a lethal outside shot, and the athleticism to impact the game in space. He runs lanes, plays on or off the ball, and is starting to hunt his offense more. With confidence rising, so does his game, and Grandview will lean on that balance. He should make his mark this season.

Stroope continues to impress, and his play during the fall league clearly reflected the strides he’s made since the summer. Known as a lights out shooter from beyond the arc, he showed noticeable growth in his all around game. He handled pressure with poise, using his improved ball control to navigate traffic and create scoring opportunities for himself and others. He played with a more aggressive, downhill mindset, finishing consistently at or around the rim while maintaining his smooth shooting touch. Defensively he stayed active on switches, battled around the bucket, and forced opponents into tough, contested looks. Stroope’s development as both a scorer and a two way presence makes him one of the more complete and confident guards emerging from this fall league

Stroope enters the season as one of the most exciting offensive threats after a dominant summer showing. He has proven himself as a go to scorer and a player who can take over games. The biggest leap in his development has been his perimeter shooting where Stroope is now a legitimate long range weapon. What sets him apart is more than just shot making, his relentless off ball movement creates constant pressure on defenses, opening up scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates. Combine that with his ability to finish inside and knock down shots from all three levels, and you have one of the most complete scorers heading into the season. Expect Stroope to be a centerpiece offensively and a name that draws serious attention as the year progresses

Stroope has been a walking highlight reel this summer, delivering consistent scoring performances and making his presence felt every game. Averaging close to 20 points per, he’s been the go to offensively and continues to elevate his game. Most notably, Stroope has taken a major step forward with his perimeter shooting. The smooth guard has become more versatile handling the ball, capable of initiating the offense. Finding teammates for quick passes on multiple occasions, Stroope is a comfortable playmaker in tight spaces. Proving to be observant of his surrounding teammates, he limited his turnovers throughout the day, slowing down the pace within the halfcourt. A large part of how he creates these looks is undoubtedly from the quick handle, but just as much from the jump shot. Excellent from a standstill, he forced opponents to make hard closeouts from the catch. If opponents walled off the lane, Stroope proved to be dependable getting to his floater.

Stroope has made steady improvements as a three level scorer, getting more creative to make space in the mid-range. Still a dependable perimeter shooter with progressing bounce, the guard should be a fun name to follow over at Grandview. Stroope’s continued growth as an on-ball playmaker alongside the addition of strength at his position will be influential at the varsity level.
