About Rakem
Expert Analysis
Bobby Lopez | Prep Hoops Scout
Spellman gives us plenty to be excited about because there’s a nice foundation to build around. He has the size and touch to be a problem near the basket and what really makes his long term potential interesting is the ability to step away and knock down shots. His hands are strong, he plays with patience and he doesn’t rush himself when he gets an opportunity inside. That combination gives him multiple ways to score and should only become tougher to deal with as he continues developing. Spellman has the tools to grow into a very intriguing frontcourt prospect over the next few years

Spellman was efficient around the basket throughout the showcase, using his size and touch to consistently finish plays in the paint. He also showed a reliable jumper and was comfortable stepping into shots from the mid range. Down low his hands stood out, allowing him to secure the ball cleanly and keep defenders from forcing turnovers. He played with good patience in the frontcourt, made strong finishes through contact and showed the versatility to score both inside and from the perimeter
