Freshman Showcase: Wings Who Stood Out With Impressive Play

The frontcourt was anything but one dimensional at the showcase, with this group showing toughness, skill, activity and versatility from the paint to the perimeter. Some bigs made their presence felt through physical play and relentless rebounding, while others displayed polished footwork, strong finishes and the ability to stretch the floor. There were also players who proved they could create offense from the mid range and make defenders uncomfortable. Together this group offered plenty of intriguing flashes and reasons to keep watching their development.    Spellman was efficient around the basket throughout the showcase, using his size and touch to consistently finish plays in the paint. He also showed a reliable jumper and was comfortable stepping into shots from the mid range. Down low his hands stood out, allowing him to secure the ball cleanly and keep defenders from forcing turnovers. He played with good patience in the frontcourt, made strong finishes through contact and showed the versatility to score both inside and from the perimeter     Bulich brought a physical presence to the frontcourt, consistently playing through contact and making his presence felt on both ends of the floor. His footwork stood out around the basket, especially when he used multiple up and under moves to create finishing opportunities. He played with toughness in the paint, battling for position and making opposing bigs work for everything. Bulich's combination of strength, patience and interior footwork made him a difficult matchup around the basket and gave his team a dependable presence inside     Gentry showed a strong understanding of how to impact the game without needing constant touches. He rebounded well, set effective screens and stayed ready to attack when working out of high low actions. On the block he consistently worked to create space and separation, giving himself opportunities to score inside. His activity carried into transition, where he ran the floor hard and found easy scoring chances. Gentry's willingness to do the dirty work while staying involved offensively gave him a valuable presence in the frontcourt     KRC-Holum was highly active around the basket on both ends of the floor, bringing consistent energy to the frontcourt. He did a good job battling for rebounds and used his size and activity to alter shots defensively. Offensively he attacked the paint with purpose and went up strong when given opportunities around the rim. His willingness to compete in the interior stood out throughout the showcase, as he consistently made plays through effort, physicality and a strong presence around the basket     Warren showed a versatile skill set throughout the showcase, impacting the game both as a shooter and a frontcourt rebounder. He knocked down threes when given space, forcing defenders to respect his ability to stretch the floor. Warren also rebounded well and immediately looked to push the pace, grabbing the ball and starting the break himself. That ability to contribute on the glass and turn rebounds into transition opportunities added another dimension to his game and made him a valuable piece on both ends     Weaver was one of the more difficult covers in the mid range, consistently creating quality looks with a polished scoring package. His jumper was smooth and he showed the ability to get into a fallaway shot when defenders challenged his space. He also used a soft floater to score over bigger defenders and finish possessions in traffic. Weaver's touch and shot making stood out throughout the showcase, giving him multiple ways to attack from the middle of the floor and keep defenders off balance
