Cole struggled out of the gate this season but has really come on as of late. A high level shooter, Edelen uncharacteristically wasn’t making a ton of shots the first few games for Male but is getting back to his old self and just put on a shooting clinic against Harlan County at the KOB last week. On the season, Cole is shooting twice as many 3s as 2s and will want to attack off the bounce more in 2023. Edelen is an elite free throw shooter and can get easy points when he gets there.
Another guard who is shooting more threes than twos so far in the season, Athens is a point guard by trade but plays off the ball a lot because of Evan Ipsaro Evan Ipsaro 5’11” | PG Covington Catholic | 2023 State KY being ahead of him. McGillis is getting some very valuable PT this season and should slide into the starting spot next year and hold it down for three years. As a Freshman, Athens is growing into his role as a starting combo guard and getting used to the physicality of the varsity level.
Highlights
One freshman who has absolutely no problem dealing with physicality already, Carson is capable of bullying opposing guards and finishing at the rim. Fraley is a good enough shooter to keep defenses honest but his bread and butter is putting his head down and getting into the paint. Carson has Pulaski off to an awesome start and looking like the favorite to win the 12th region.
Highlights
A talented lefty who can play on or off the ball, Faulkner has a ton of upside thanks to his length and athleticism. Bryonn can get downhill and finish at the rim and is solid in the midrange with pull ups and floaters. Look for him to continue earning more and more varsity playing time as the season rolls along and possibly be a starter for the Warriors next season as a Sophomore.
Jakobi, like Faulkner, is carving out a small role for himself as a freshman for a talented DeSales team that has played a murderer’s row of a schedule thus far. McRoberts has had his playing time negatively impacted by Julian Bunton getting eligible but that doesn’t diminish his long term potential as the floor general for DeSales. McRoberts is quick and athletic and has the potential to be one of the best guards in Louisville in a couple of years.
