Dawson has been a very popular name with colleges coaches of late and it’s clear why. He’s got great positional size and shoots the ball at a high clip. A 40% shooter from range, Gilbert is a top shooter in the class and has become more and more comfortable operating with the ball in his hands over the course of his career.

After a quiet first half, Gilbert exploded in the second half to push Adair County to tie the game and take the lead during multiple instances in the second half. One of the top shooters in Kentucky, Gilbert doesn’t need much time or space to fire away off the catch. My favorite bucket of Gilbert’s on Monday night was when he had a pump fake as a defender flew by him on a closeout and he buried a sidestep 3-pointer. I’ve seen Gilbert a handful of times in his career and he consistently makes shots and finds buckets off opportunistic plays. Getting some JUCO interest, if Gilbert can continue to add strength and improve his explosiveness, he could impact the game in more ways than just as a shooter.

Perhaps the best available shooter in the 26 class, Gilbert has seen several offers come his way in the past few weeks from several different levels. A sniper from range who has good size at the shooting guard spot, Dawson can get hot from deep. I’ve seen him hit more than 7 threes in a game at least twice over the years. Whichever level he signs at, that school will get a good player with super high character and work ethic.

Recently back from an injury, Dawson is a good scorer who is a big time shooter and underrated athlete. Gilbert is part of a loaded Adair County roster and has the potential to be one of the best Seniors in the 5th region.

Gilbert is a big time shooter who is getting better and better at being more than just a shooter. While knocking down threes will always be his bread and butter, Dawson is a high IQ playmaker who is better defensively than he’s given credit for.

One of the best shooters in Kentucky, Gilbert provides a lot of value as an off-ball scorer, running off screens, spotting up and cutting to find ways to score. Gilbert can fill it up from the guard position without needing to dribble the ball a ton to create space to shoot. Usually those types of scorers translate well to the college level where the game is simplified and usually one player isn’t dominating the ball. I liked watching the Stars 17 U group this weekend as they have a nice blend of skill, size and shooting on their roster.

A big time shooter who continues to improve his all around offensive game, Gilbert has helped get Adair to Rupp Arena two years in a row. Dawson is going to be the go-to scorer for the Indians and has been one of the main scorers for his AAU team this spring. Gilbert has a ton of interest from various scholarship levels and could be a breakout performer this summer.

One of the best shooters in the Junior class, Gilbert has good size for a combo guard and has shown a willingness to play defense and do the dirty work on that end of the floor. A high academic prospect, Dawson is capable of pulling multiple offers this season.

Primarily a shooting specialist, Gilbert is shooting an impressive 51% from deep while hitting over 3 treys per game. With his feet set, Dawson is hard to stop as I’ve seen him hit 7+ threes in one game this past AAU season and he is continuing to earn his reputation as a deadeye shooter this year at the high school level.

The reigning regional champs have a good shot to return to Rupp but Dawson will need to continue developing his game for that to happen. Known primarily for his shooting, Gilbert has the ability to do more but has to get more aggressive on offense. For Adair to cut down the nets at the 5th region again, Dawson will have to be a consistent threat behind Seniors Connor Loy Connor Loy 6'0" | PG Adair County | 2025 State KY and Isaiah Cochran Isaiah Cochran 6'6" | SF Adair County | 2025 State #383 Nation KY this season.
