Jakobi has become more well known on the football field of late but he did play in 10 games at Oldham County after transferring from North Oldham after the football season ended. McRoberts excels at getting into the paint and creating clean looks for teammates. It remains to be seen which sport Jakobi will play in college but don’t be surprised if he ends up with offers in both football and basketball.

Jakobi also is back where he started after he was a standout for North Oldham middle school, transferred to DeSales and then went back to North Oldham. McRoberts will likely be a starter and primary ball handler for the Mustangs this season. With his burst and athleticism, the 6’2 point guard can be a top 10 or better player this season in the 8th region.

Jakobi is on the short list of breakout candidates for me this year. I’m excited to see if he’s bulked up and added some more athleticism to his frame since the last time I saw him.

Jakobi was a top performer at our freshman showcase last fall but transferred from DeSales and enrolled at North Oldham and sat out the rest of the season. McRoberts has started to come into his own as a playmaker and scorer and looks like he’s ready for a starting role as a Sophomore.

An athletic guard, McRoberts provided a spark to his team. Made some impressive skips to the corner and to bigs on drives, looking to pass if the lane wasn’t open for a shot. With his physical tools, he has the potential to be an impact defensive player down the road and a weakside rotation led to a big-time blocked shot. McRoberts hit a layup with 10 seconds left in regulation to tie and had a mid-range jumper in overtime to take the lead, showing some of his scoring ability. I think down the road McRoberts has scholarship potential at some level of college basketball.

Jakobi, like Faulkner, is carving out a small role for himself as a freshman for a talented DeSales team that has played a murderer’s row of a schedule thus far. McRoberts has had his playing time negatively impacted by Julian Bunton getting eligible but that doesn’t diminish his long term potential as the floor general for DeSales. McRoberts is quick and athletic and has the potential to be one of the best guards in Louisville in a couple of years.

It remains to be seen how much varsity Jakobi will play this season on a loaded DeSales roster but even if it’s a smaller role, the 6’2 point guard looks ready to contribute. McRoberts showed both flash and fundamentals at our freshman showcase and looks like a nice prospect in the long term.

McRoberts showed an advanced skill set and a knack for getting to the rim but did have some issues finishing through contact. Jakobi has a good handle and was able to get into the paint all day long on Saturday. He’ll compete for playing time on a loaded DeSales roster this season.
