Prospect Spotlight: Isaac Carr (2025 Central Catholic)

There are several members of the Class of 2025 making their high school debuts and [player_tooltip player_id="1276626" first="Isaac" last="Carr"] will be making his on Friday night. It’s highly anticipated by many as the lanky 6-foot-2, 155-pound guard comes into Central Catholic much ballyhood as an elite shooter. In fact, his ability has already earned him a scholarship offer but this fall, his focus has been on bonding with his Rams teammates as they pursue a 6A title. "I really like it here a lot and I feel like I’m fitting in," Carr said. "I fit in with the team and I’ve been playing well (in practice). I’ve been trying to bring energy, trying to get my teammates to talk and get them involved too." Carr enters Central Catholic after a big summer playing with the Rose City Rebels, a team filled with many guys who are playing varsity as freshmen this season. It was a good experience for him playing in a number of tournaments across the United States. "I felt like it went good and we got three second place (finishes) in some big tournaments," Carr said. "I wish we could have done better there and I wish I could have played a little better in some of those but I’ve just got to keep trying to improve like my handle and my defense too." His performance at the club level helped him earn an invitation to the Prime Time Top 40 camp earlier this fall and it was an experience he won’t soon forget. "I really like the camp and it was a lot of fun," Carr said. "It was really cool because it wasn’t like 200 people like some of the other camps and it was nice to play against all the top high schoolers in Oregon and Washington. It gives you a lot of confidence coming into high school." It’s obviously very early as he has yet to play a high school game. But Carr’s abilities - especially his acumen from long range - have already earned college recruiting interest and he comes in as a prep with a scholarship offer from the University of Portland. No question he’s keeping options open but the Pilots are a program he’s familiar with as one of his older brothers, David, played there on the bluff. "I was so excited and so grateful to get the offer," Carr said. "I want to try and play Division I and then play professionally. I’ll be honest and I haven’t thought about it a lot, but the University of Portland - I really like it there. It’s a really cool campus." With plenty of time to figure out his future, Carr is honed in on the present. Talk to him and he’s confident that the 2021-22 season with the Rams will be a special one. "I think we’re going to win a state championship," Carr said. "I think we can do that for sure."
