2028 Prospect Update: MD/DC Top 20 Point Guards

While he managed the ball handling duties for much of last season, sharing the responsibility with Prince-Alexander Moody (Indiana) adjusted his approach a bit. He helped the Mustangs to a 7-1 showing throughout the two weekends of DMV Live with his better showing coming during S2 where he averaged 11.1PPG, 4.8RPG and 4.8APG while converting 50 percent of his attempts from three. Coming into high school with a reputation as a sniper, Brooks' transition to being a full-time point guard who is expected to ensure half court execution had his shooting percentages a bit inconsistent at times, but I'm in on him leveling those percentages back to the mean hovering around 35-40 percent and pushing for the top point guard spot in these rankings with a productive season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>3. He'll be handed the ball from head coach Kevin Jones and expected to impact the game in a multitude of ways. Based off the body of work that we saw, he's fully prepared for the task. His S2 outing in DMV Live was especially loud in terms of touching different box score categories as he posted 12PPG, 8.7APG and 5.3RPG. It may not be in the fashion of posting videogame like numbers, but in the sense of showing his control and game management from the point guard position. He enters this season as the undoubted starting point guard for head coach Gerry Abrams and there should be confidence putting the ball in his hands based off the spring and summer that he strung together. In DMV Live S1 specifically, he led the Eagles to two wins behind 15.5PPG, 7RPG and 1.7APG. It should be well-timed as he's set to take on a bigger role with St. John's (DC) in comparison to his sophomore year where the rotation depended heavily on upperclassmen. Little is tough from the point of attack at both ends of the floor. With the ball, he demands gravity from his defender thanks to a dependable outside shot, but also comes with underrated twitch and control within his pace to truly keep his man guessing. He manipulates with his speed and eyes to open up passing windows and has shown over the first two years of his high school career that he can be just as impactful playing next to a bigger, ball dominant guard if the lineup calls for it.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>16. Manning the keys for Walter Johnson alongside 2029 [player_tooltip player_id='2194778' first='Jeremiah' last='Williams'], Brooks is dynamic, shifty and crafty with the way he makes plays. He capped off his Capitol Hoops Summer League with averages of 16.1PPG, 6.4RPG and 3.3APG. I'd expect for both he and Williams to post eye-popping numbers this season while making the Wildcats a legitimate contender in the always tough Montgomery County field.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
