The Hoops business was booming this past weekend in the Triad and we were able to spend time at both the NCISAA and NCBCA event on Friday as we were able to watch games throughout the evening session at Rise Indoor Sports! Without further delay, let's take a look at these standouts from the Friday Night action at NCBCA Live!

We got to see Vickery and Myers Park take on Kinston in what was a very fun matchup with high level guard play on both sides. Vickery did a fantastic job getting downhill and finishing with aggression. His ability to play on the ball at this size was very impressive to see as it forces the defense to allocate a ton of attention his way, opening up shots and easy finishes at the rim for his teammates. Vickery will likely see a little bump in his ranking as he's been a consistent performer regardless of setting while showing a ton of progression in his frame and his ability to impact the game at both ends of the floor. He's got flare, skill, and a real will to win that was on full display at the NCBCA Team Camp.

Herring and Kinston came up just short vs Myers Park but it's very clear that this team will be a real threat to defend their title with Keyshawn being a major part of that. His ability to apply pressure on the ball defensively and capitalize on his opportunities in transition make him super tough to deal with at all times. Add in his improved feel in the half-court, strengthened confidence in his jumper, and the overall strength level allowing him to play through contact more, it makes Herring a real problem to deal with in every aspect of the game. He's in a situation where this team needs him to play very well for them to be at their best and it's a challenge he embraces. Look for Herring to have some big moments throughout the rest of June with this group as they look to gear up for a repeat.

Jamison is one of the most well rounded guards in North Carolina's 2028 class and he doesn't necessarily get the credit because of how simple and direct his game actually is. Jamison is a great rebounder for a guard, and his ability as a pitch ahead passer shines because of how often he's getting it off the rim. Jamison is very comfortable in ball screen situations, where he possesses the touch to pull up from distance, the patience to make plays for teammates, and the necessary athleticism + size to finish at the rim in traffic. It's been a steady progression for Jamison as he's emerged into an impact player and I don't see that trajectory changing a whole lot. Should be a slow riser in these 2028 rankings.

Washington is another key piece in this championship level Kinston backcourt and he does a great job playing alongside [player_tooltip player_id='1797959' first='Keyshawn' last='Herring'] as the two have established an incredible chemistry with one another. Washington possesses great body control when attacking and that allows him to finish in traffic at a very high rate. He's got great foot speed, makes good decisions off of his paint touches, and provides a natural energy to this group. The vision, speed, and flare that Washington possesses gives himself and teammates a lot of confidence in every matchup. You can tell he's a guy people love to play with and just genuinely want on their side. Bonafide next level prospect that should start to garner more attention as his 17u Summer and Senior year progress.

It was a long time coming but it was really great to get my first in person view of Scott who had a remarkable Freshman year at New Bern High School as he racked up a lineage of accolades. It's very clear that Scott is a remarkably gifted two way prospect and in this viewing his defensive instincts were on display. His timing and anticipation as a shot blocker comes very natural along with his ability to jump passing lanes and recover if he can't quite get the steal. He's a natural connector at both ends of the floor, he plays the right way, and looks to exploit mismatches when presented. Scott's handle is direct and used to get where he needs on the floor with limited wasted movement. His jumper looks good and goes in with frequency from the mid-range with a clear trajectory path for that range to extend with further consistency. It's very clear that the foundation Scott possesses as a prospect is incredibly strong and it will be really exciting to track his development in the coming years. High level 2029 prospect.

In what was a really fun matchup vs Knightdale, Jones had to deal with bigger and stronger guards all game but stayed resilient and found a way to help close the deal which shows you what he's really made of. It wasn't always pretty in this one and he had to take a lot of punishment but everything Jones got in this game he flat out earned. Quick feet, great scoring instincts, and a natural competitive fire are really what his calling cards are. He's comfortable being uncomfortable and that's a rare thing to say about prospects nowadays. He is poised for a monster year at Ardrey Kell as he continues to establish himself as a bonafide next level prospect.

Jefferson is one of my favorite players to watch in North Carolina simply because of the level of consistency and simplicity he offers in his game. Jefferson displayed a ton of confidence in his shot from beyond the arc in this one and it payed off as he made incredibly timely shots from distance down the stretch vs Ardrey Kell. He provides this group with such a steady two way presence with his strong fame, high IQ, and skill level. He doesn't show it super often but Jefferson is well above the rim and is dangerous in the open floor. He's always under control with the ball in his hands along with being a really useful defensive player capable of helping in multiple ways at that end of the floor.

While his backcourt mate Jones had to go through a little bit of struggle to find a way, Suggs used his frame and poise to provide production for this team throughout what was a dog fight of a game vs Knightdale. Suggs is comfortable finding offense from different areas on the floor as he's got a smooth mid range game that allows him to find his spots with consistency. Suggs is a perfect guard on a high school roster with his approach, size, and well rounded skillset. The only thing he cares about is winning and that was very apparent in crunch time as he made plays that don't always show up on the stat sheet. Crisp rotations defensively, disrupting opponents on their catch, and ensuring his team made the right play at the right time. Another bonafide next level prospect in this 2027 class out of the 704.

Roper continues to impress with his unique blend of power and skill at this age. He has a will to win and compete that cannot be taught and you really feel that when he's working on the glass or moving bodies out of the paint on the offensive end. Roper is rapidly improving his catch and shoot game from distance which will make him that much more well rounded of a player. Roper possesses a really strong feel for the game as well and that shows in his passing, often giving up good shots for himself by giving it up for a great shot for a teammate. Roper will continue to be a primary option at Knightdale as he's poised for a special Sophomore season.

Pressley's ability to operate within this offense is vital to their success as he does such an incredible job setting the table for the other talented pieces along with being more than capable of finding his own offense in bulk from time to time. In this game they were without [player_tooltip player_id='2619645' first='Kaharri' last='Coleman'] so Pressley needed to find a way to call his own number more and there were stretches of this game where nobody could stop him from getting to the basket. On the defensive end he uses his frame and lateral ability to provide disruption while using his leadership to ensure everyone else is in the right spot. Pressley is a guy that has a chance to see a bump in the rankings at next update as he's proving to be a really high quality backcourt piece.

Womack is one of the more dynamic shot creators in North Carolina regardless of class and that was on full display in West Charlotte's victory on Friday night. He had the keys to the car and found a way to get to his spots and make shots with consistency while maintaining control of the game throughout. Womack plays with a chip on his shoulder and a confidence that translates to his teammates. He's got great footwork off the bounce, allowing him to create separation to hit shots. Womack is showing more frequent flashes of his point guard abilities, making pocket passes out of ball screens and smart pitch aheads on the break. There's still a lot of untapped upside while being a real game breaker right now. Womack will continue to be a factor near the top of this 2028 class.
