Another excellent weekend of basketball is officially in the books on the Prep Hoops Circuit. This weekend we hosted the annual Havoc in the Heartland in Lafayette at the Legacy Courts. All of our events have continued to get better with high-level competition taking the floor on a weekend-by-weekend basis. This weekend was no different. There were several shoe circuit teams and other high level programs in attendance at the Havoc in the Heartland gearing up for next weekend's live period. As always, we will begin our coverage by emptying out the notebook with what we saw specifically during Sunday's action.

Game of the Weekend Lives Up to the Hype

As soon as the schedule came out this was a game that was circled by fans, scouts, and college coaches alike. [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] 17u versus Progeny UAA 17u. This was one of those games where every single player on the floor will go on to play college basketball. The matchup absolutely lived up to the hype as well.

[program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] threw the first punch as [player_tooltip player_id='2414954' first='Chase' last='Devine'] (Bremen H.S. 2027) was absolutely on fire from three-point range out of the gate. He connected on five three-point shots and a long two in the first half alone. Devine, a 6'2" guard, helped to build an early double-digit lead for [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite']. However, the length and athleticism of Progeny UAA eventually allowed them to claw back into it before the halftime break.

Tylin George (Adair County H.S. 2026) was a big part of Progeny UAA's comeback. The 6'4" guard was hitting some tough pull-up jump shots on the perimeter that simply were unguardable. On the interior, both [player_tooltip player_id='3068383' first='Devin' last='Bolden'] (Cardinal Ritter 2027) and James Kalala (Southport H.S. 2026) were active on the offensive glass and finished a couple of tough ones on the roll. Progeny came back from down 12, but a near-half court shot by [player_tooltip player_id='2622069' first='Joban' last='Kalkat'] (Whiteland H.S. 2027) gave [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] a 40-39 lead at the break.

Progeny would never go away, but the backcourt of [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] ultimately led them to victory. The athleticism off of the bounce of Kalkat and [player_tooltip player_id='2141046' first='Austin' last='Perry'] (Columbus North H.S. 2027) was too much to handle. Those two consistently got paint touches and finished in the intermediate range against Progeny's size. [program_tooltip program_id='2471005' first='Legacy' last='Ice Elite'] went on to pick up a big 78-77 win over Progeny UAA.

Devine, who connected on a six three-point shots in the game, led all scorers with 27 points. Kalkat added 23 points of his own. Meanwhile, in the loss for Progeny, Tylin George ended up with 21 points. [player_tooltip player_id='3068383' first='Devin' last='Bolden'] added 13 points while both Ethan Hillsman (Fishers H.S. 2026) and James Kalala chipped in 12 points.

[program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] NXT Pro 16u Remains Undefeated

This team has been one of our favorites to watch at Prep Hoops events since last spring. There are few teams that play as well together as this group. They moved to 3-0 at Havoc in the Heartland on Sunday morning with a 67-53 win over a solid [program_tooltip program_id='3587267' first='Indiana' last='Impact'] - Smith 16u team.

[player_tooltip player_id='2411078' first='Jaxen' last='Bennett'] (University H.S. 2028) runs the show for [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'] from the point guard position. That floor general ability was on full display in Sunday morning's win. Bennett scored 11 points, but also dished out 13 assists to power the victory. [player_tooltip player_id='2481826' first='Jesse' last='Craig'] (Zionsville H.S. 2028), one of the top catch-and-shoot threats in the class, was the beneficiary of a few of those assists. He led the way in the scoring column with 19 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='2859684' first='Evan' last='Magsamen'] (Noblesville H.S. 2028) and [player_tooltip player_id='2538910' first='Ashton' last='Reid'] (Park Tudor 2028) were both very effective around the basket as well scoring 12 points a piece for [program_tooltip program_id='2847679' first='Refined' last='Indiana'].

This group has had a strong start to the spring on the NXT Pro Circuit and is playing some of their best basketball heading into next weekend's live period.
