We've reached the conclusion of the high school season in Massachusetts, and with that, it's time to announce our MIAA All-State Team!

Massachusetts is the only state in New England where we've decided to announce Co-Players of the Year, while also naming an All-State Team and a handful of honorable mention selections.

As a reminder, here are the state champions in each of the MIAA's five division:

Division1: Bishop Feehan | Division 2: St. Mary's | Division 3: Salem | Division 4: Wareham | Division 5: Hoosac Valley

And now, our Players of the Year and All-State Team for the MIAA:

Bumila, a senior out of Bishop Feehan, put together one of the most historic postseason runs in state history, culminating with a 36 point - 20 rebound - 5 block performance in the Division 1 state championship. His final numbers through five games in the state tournament - 40.8 points and 20.0 rebounds per game - were probably some of the most impressive you'd find anywhere in the country. The 6'9" lefty was as physically imposing as any prospect in New England's state associations and did a great job of imposing his will around the rim on both ends of the floor. He carved out space as a rebounder, had a terrific set of hands, and was a powerful athlete that finished above the rim with authority in space. Now a two-sport star, Bumila will continue his athletic career on the baseball diamond next year at Texas.

Lopez, a senior out of Catholic Central, was the state's top individual performer during the regular season and continued to impress during CC's run to the Division 1 championship game. Although they came up just short against Bumila and Bishop Feehan, Lopez was a star until the very end, scoring 30 points in the final. He'll leave Central Catholic as the school's all-time leading scorer and was an absolute force in the MIAA over the last four years. The 6'2" guard was one of the best isolation scorers around, played with a great sense of feel and pace, and showed the ability to get a bucket at all three levels. Most importantly, he seemingly was always able to elevate his play in the biggest games and moments. Lopez will continue his academic and athletic careers next year at Brandeis.

Brown, a senior out of Holbrook, wrapped up one of the most impressive high school careers in MIAA history while leading his team to a birth in the Division 5 state championship game. The all-time leading score in Holbrook history, Brown concluded his career as one of the state's Top 20 scorers of all-time, with almost 2,400 career points. He had 46 in the state semifinals, showcasing his ability to get buckets in a variety of ways. He played with a good feel for the game in the half-court, showed an elite ability to change speeds and directions, and was able to elevate into his jumper in late shot clock situations. Beyond all that, he was a solid point of attack defender that was able to generate steals and deflections at a high level, leading to easy transition baskets for him and his teammates.

Cote, a senior out of Wareham, capped off his career in style, leading his team to a Division 4 state title while scoring 31 points in the final game. His school's all-time leading scorer, Cote wrapped up his high school career winning his third state championship and claiming the 2026 Dave Cowens Award. The 6'0" lefty was one of the state's best shooters, and maybe the best at creating his own threes off the bounce. He was a steadying presence with the ball in his hands, showed high level floor vision as a creator, and knew how to get to his spots as a scorer late in the shot clock. His ability to create seperation off the bounce was second to none and he proved to be more than a shooter with his ability to finish it in a variety of ways around the rim.

Rodriguez, a junior out of Salem, had a season for the ages while helping his team win the school's first state championship in boys basketball since 1997. The Most Valuable Player of the Northeastern Conference, Rodriguez became just the 4th 1,000-point scorer in Salem history this winter. A crafty scoring guard, he showed the ability to get to his spots off the bounce out of ball screens, to score it at a high level in transition, and to make shots in bunches in catch and shoot situations. With plus length, he was a talented finisher around the rim, showing good burst in getting there and the ability to finish over size with touch. On the other end, his activity level in passing lanes led to plenty of run outs and easy scoring opportunities in transition.

Farrell, a senior out of Masconomet, made a monumental impact on the court this winter while leading his team to a birth in the Division 2 state championship game. A consumate floor general, Farrell was another player that was at his best in the biggest moments, scoring 26 points in a road contest at St. Mary's and hitting the game-winning jumper in the state semifinal. He made the game easier for his teammates on the offensive end of the floor, didn't shy away from tough defensive assignments, and helped Masconomet win a lot of basketball games this winter. He played with great poise as a ball-handler, was one of the better mid-range scorers in the state, and wanted the ball in his hands in crunch time.

Brigham, a senior out of Pope Francis, proved to be, arguably, the top player in all of western Massachusetts while guiding his team to an 18-3 record in the regular season. The Naismith Western Massachusetts Player of the Year, Brigham finished his career as the 2nd all-time leading scorer in western Massachusetts history with 2,107 career points after averaging 23.8 points per game this winter. At 6'3", he's a bigger guard that was able to get his shot off over most defenders, showing particular skill in the mid-range. He was really good in catch and shoot situations behind the arc and also showed the ability to finish plays through contact around the rim. A heady defender, he knew how to create turnovers off the ball and was excellent when finishing plays in transition.

HONORABLE MENTIONS:

[player_tooltip player_id='2711407' first='Joshua' last='Roux']: A junior guard out of Andover, Roux helped lead his team to an 18-2 record in the regular season and the #2 seed in the Division 1 tournament. Roux, maybe the best three-point shooter in the state, passed the 1,000-point mark this season on his way to being named the Co-Player of the Year in the MVC. The development of his off-the-dribble game was noticable and allowed him to become a true three-level scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id='2696712' first='Jacob' last='Klass']: A senior guard out of Beverly, Klass was one of the top scorers in the state while helping lead his team to a 17-4 record in the regular season. A 20+ point a night type of scorer, Klass ended his career as Beverly's all-time leading scorer. He was dynamic with the ball in his hands, scored it in a variety of ways around the rim, and could knock down shots in bunches from behind the arc. He was a big-time competitor and elevated his team to another level all winter long.

[player_tooltip player_id='2696697' first='Brendan' last='Loewen']: A senior guard out of Georgetown, Loewen was a key cog for his team during a 15-5 regular season and their postseason run all the way to the Division 4 championship game. Loewen leaves Georgetown as one of the winningest players in program history - a state champion last winter and a runner-up this season. He finished the year averaging 15.1 points per game and was named the CAL Baker Player of the Year. His toughness, shot making, and will to win made him one of the state's top players this winter.

Ryan Mutschler: A senior wing out of Hanover, Mutschler led his team to the top overall seed in Division 3 and a berth in the state championship game. The Patriot League Fisher Division Most Valuable Player this season, Mutschler's season was highlighted by a 32-point performance against Lynnfield in the state tournament. The 6'5" wing was a mismatch for most opponents on the offensive end of the floor, operating as a jumbo playmaker that could create easy baskets for himself and his teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id='2569702' first='Jake' last='Fortier']: A sophomore guard out of St. Mary's, Fortier proved to be one of the top lead guards in the state while leading his team to a Division 2 state title. Fortier passed the 1,000-point mark as just a sophomore and asserted himself as one of the top young prospects in the state. He had the ability to take over games as a scorer or facilitator, proved to be ultra competitive, and made winning plays that didn't always show up in the box score. His commitment to playing on both ends of the floor was noticable every time he stepped on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2878176' first='Tahir' last='Bey']: A senior forward out of Springfield Central, Bey capped off his high school career by leading his team on a run to the Division 1 Final Four. Bey finished the season averaging 15.3 points per game, but it was his contributions beyond the scoring column that made him one of the top players in the state. A physical presence in the paint, the 6'5" lefty had a nose for the ball on the offensive glass, carved out space as a defensive rebounder, and was a vocal presence on the back line of the defense for a stingy Springfield Central squad.
