Though Andover ran into Bishop Feehan in the final four of the tournament, Roux’s year needs recognition. He was Andover’s best shooter and scorer this season, but he did an amazing job picking his spots and playing within a system that gave his teammates tons of confidence and reps. He has one of the purest shot releases in the state, and he really knows how to bend the defense both with and without the ball. Roux’s game will translate wonderfully to the next level, but he still has another year at Andover and should be a star in the MIAA again next season if he chooses to stay there.

Whenever I’ve seen Roux in the past, he has shot the ball well. Against Bishop Feehan, though, his shot wasn’t falling and it was instead his pace and skill on drives that really impressed me. The 6-foot guard has a really nice handle and is able to get by his defender while still paying attention to the back line of the defense, and he did an excellent job finishing with contact against Bishop Feehan. He consistently made and-ones and drove aggressively when Andover needed buckets, but it just wasn’t enough to keep up with Bumila.

Roux scored 28 points in Andover’s first round victory over Belmont, and 21 of them were in the first half. The problem with defending Roux is that he has a counter for everything you throw at him, and his ability to shoot the three ball is where it all starts. Don’t play him tight enough and he’ll shoot it, but crowd him and he’ll blow by you for layups, floaters or jumpers. Roux will face a tough Marshfield defense tonight, but I’m excited to see how he handles it.

While Lopez might be the best player in the MIAA, Roux is probably the best shooter. Andover’s star junior does a phenomenal job coming off screens and getting his feet set for shots, but he can also handle the ball in the pick and roll and get his looks off from three that way. What has impressed me this season, too, is his ability to attack closeouts and finish in the paint with contact. Roux leads an Andover team that should be a title contender, but they have a tough road.

Roux, a junior guard out of Andover High School, has spent the season establishing himself as not only one of the MIAA’s top perimeter shooters, but also one of the state’s top overall scorers. Through 9 games this winter, he was averaging over 26.0 points per game and shooting an astounding 47% from three point land. If you had to pick one MIAA prospect to win you a three point contest, he’s probably that guy. What stands out most about his game is that he rarely forces the issue and instead, finds his scoring in the flow of the offense. Beyond having in-the-gym range on his jumper, he makes good decisions with the ball in his hands and has shown progress as a scorer in the paint, particularly when leveraging his shooting to attack closeouts.

Roux is a probably the best shooter I’ve seen in the MIAA. The 6-foot guard has amazing footwork coming off screens and moving without the ball, and then he has a super quick release that he can get off over anyone. He can shoot with range, too, and he does it off the dribble or off the catch. I was also impressed with his ability to attack closeouts and finish with contact at the rim, something he seems to be improving at as of late. Roux is probably a high level D3 player, but reclassifying and gaining an extra year could be huge for his scholarship hopes.

Roux, a junior guard out of Andover High School, should step into the role of one of the top perimeter shooters in the state this winter. He’s a dynamic scorer of the basketball that does a great job of using screens to get open in the half-court and has in-the-gym range on his jumper. He can score as an on-ball initiator or off the ball in catch and shoot situations, while also showing a developing feel for the game as a creator with the ball in his hands. His basketball IQ stands out on both ends of the floor.

Maybe the best shooter I’ve seen all weekend, Roux was money from long distance on Friday with some lubricious shot making. Not only was Roux knocking down spot-up 3-pointers but he was running off screens, moving without the ball, turning in mid-air to set himself up to shoot, it was a clinic on how to create shots as a limited athlete off the ball. With picture-perfect form and a repeatable release that even when the shot misses still looks on line, Roux could probably teach form shooting to his peers that are also playing this weekend in Rock Hill.

Roux, a scoring guard out of Andover High School, checks into the rankings at #100, climbing 52 spots since our last update. Coming off of a strong high school season, Roux has continued to impress this spring with his scoring ability, toughness, and defensive instincts. He’s a strong rebounder from the guard spot, showing a willingness to mix it up and do the dirty work on the glass. Offensively, he’s one of the better perimeter shooters in the region, showing that he can get it done in catch and shoot situations and also as a movement shooter. He’s rounded out his offensive game by doing more as a ball-handler while showing a high basketball IQ and the ability to make good decisions with the ball in his hands.

Roud, a member of the 16u 3SSB squad, is a shot making guard out of Andover High School in Massachusetts. After breaking out as a freshman in the MIAA, he took another jump this winter, adding new elements to his game offensively. He’s a terrific perimeter shooter that gets into his shot quickly, moves well without the basketball, and has solid mechanics on his jumper. He’s now doing a better job of leveraging his shooting to open up driving lanes, where he makes good decisions as a passer and shows the ability to finish over size with touch. Defensively, he does a good job with his positioning and is an impressive rebounder at the guard spot. He’s smart, skilled, and makes winning plays, a combination that should catch the attention of plenty of college coaches over the next few years.
