Brown was lethal yesterday. The 5-foot-10 guard won’t wow you with his size or physicality, but he gets love of elevation on his jump shot and can get extremely hot once he makes a couple. Last night, he was feeling it from three and probably shot about 50% from there on the night. Additionally, he showed the ability to fight through contact and finish at the rim with contests from big men. Defensively, he’s has awesome hands and always seems to be around the ball, not the mention the fact that he’s a phenomenal rebounder for his size. He should be getting some D3 looks, even though he doesn’t play against a high level of competition.

Brown Jr. was an overwhelmingly dominant star for Holbrook this season, and he has a claim for making the second or first team. If he put up these numbers against better competition, he would absolutely be there—but you play who’s on the schedule. The 5-foot-10 guard is a phenomenal athlete and has a special knack for finishing with contact; he consistently meets defenders in the air, and he almost always finishes (oftentimes for and-ones). He also has a nice mid-range jumper and could get his shot off against division 4 players whenever he wanted. The college level will be a massive step up for Brown Jr., but he’ll acclimate quickly.

Brown, a senior out of Holbrook, wrapped up one of the most impressive high school careers in MIAA history while leading his team to a birth in the Division 5 state championship game. The all-time leading score in Holbrook history, Brown concluded his career as one of the state’s Top 20 scorers of all-time, with almost 2,400 career points. He had 46 in the state semifinals, showcasing his ability to get buckets in a variety of ways. He played with a good feel for the game in the half-court, showed an elite ability to change speeds and directions, and was able to elevate into his jumper in late shot clock situations. Beyond all that, he was a solid point of attack defender that was able to generate steals and deflections at a high level, leading to easy transition baskets for him and his teammates.

Brown was his normal self against Hoosac Valley, showcasing the ability to score from all three levels using superb skill and athleticism. The senior guard has a tight handle, but he does a good job playing with patience and getting to his spots on the floor before rising up for easy looks over the contest. At the rim, he does a phenomenal job taking contact and finishing—he’s a foul-drawing machine who has great instincts when it comes to putting the ref in difficult spots. Brown should find a college fit. However, he’ll have a rude awakening at the jump of talent to the next level, so he’ll need to improve his decision making and shot selection.

Brown, a senior guard out of Holbrook, has to be at the top of any list of top scorers in the state of Massachusetts. The 5’10” guard surpassed the 2,000-point mark for his career on January 30th, has scored at least 40 points in five games this winter, and has a single-game high on the season of 54 points. Brown is electric with the ball in his hands, has the ability to get anywhere he wants on the floor, and is a dynamic three level scorer. He’s elite in the open floor, has one of the quickest first steps in the MIAA, and, while undersized, has the ability to score with a ton of creativity and touch around the rim.

Holbrook is a division 5 school, so Brown Jr. likely doesn’t get the name recognition that he deserves. But on the AAU circuit, people know him as the guy on Dana Barros that has a beautiful mid range pull up game and some pretty special athletic pop. The 5-foot-10 guard is a fundamentally sound scorer who can light it up from all three levels and has the conditioning to do it for the entire 32 minutes. He’s always in attack mode, and he plays hard on the defensive end, too. He’ll get 4 to 6 points a game off of steals for easy breakaway layups. Brown Jr. will go off this year and should find a D3 fit at the next level.

Brown Jr. isn’t too well known around New England simply because he doesn’t go to a big time prep or public school. However, the 5-foot-10 guard can play with anyone. He’s an absolute menace on the defensive end; he has incredibly active hands and is both physical and disciplined when sliding his feet. Offensively, he has a tight handle and is able to get to wherever he wants on the floor as a result. He also has a beautiful pull up jumper. Brown Jr. should have another huge year at Holbrook this season, and D3 coaches should certainly keep an eye on him.
