The City League Tournament tipped off Tuesday night with a matchup everyone had circled — Denver West vs. Denver South — and it didn't disappoint. From the opening tip, the Ravens set the tone, controlling the tempo and dictating the action on their way to a convincing 75-56 win. But the final score doesn't tell the whole story. West made its pushes and had moments where the momentum shifted, only to see South respond every time. Here's how it unfolded.

Rhoades-Martinez set the tone from the opening tip and never let up, delivering a strong all around performance to lead South to victory. He poured in 15 points, attacking the rim and knocking down timely 3 point shots, but his impact went far beyond scoring. He controlled the glass with tough rebounds in traffic and kept the offense flowing with sharp, unselfish passes. His leadership and steady presence were the driving force behind South's win

McDonald continues to earn more minutes and the trust of his coaches and teammates, and he made the most of it with a breakout performance. He showcased tight handles and quick, elusive moves to slice through defenders and get to the rim at will. On the defensive end he competed hard and made things difficult. The highlight came when he rose up for a massive dunk, flashing his athleticism on his way to a 15 point night

Davis finished with 13 points, delivering timely buckets that swung the momentum whenever the game tightened up. He plays with a calm, controlled tempo, never rushed, yet can attack the rim at will and make it look effortless. With the ball in his hands, he dictated the pace, keeping his team organized and in rhythm. His composure and ability to control the flow were key factors in the outcome

Cobb delivered a dominant performance, especially in the paint where he controlled the action on both ends. Defensively he anchored the middle with two emphatic blocks and altered several more shots thanks to his length and relentless work down low. Offensively he battled for position, sealed defenders deep in the post, and finished strong around the rim. His physical presence and effort paid off as he powered his way to 13 hard earned points

Taylor started slow, but once he found his rhythm, he became a problem. After easing into the scoring column, he caught fire and kept pouring in buckets to keep West within striking distance. He finished with a game high 19 points, doing most of his damage on the block where he was nearly automatic. With polished footwork, crafty moves and great shiftiness down low, he consistently created space and played with relentless effort all night

Sekue was the other steady force for West, turning in a strong 17 point performance. Playing with his usual twitchiness and quick burst, he attacked the paint and finished inside at will. He battled hard on the glass, coming up with big rebounds in traffic and never shied away from contact. Every time West needed a spark, Sekue answered, doing everything he could to keep his team within reach
