Summer Stock Rising Guards Clash as Stevenson Edges Past Wauconda

First game of the day was a fun contest with Stevenson stretching their lead in the third quarter to win 63-47. Stevenson senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1964163' first='Donovan' last='Williams'] was a breakout player over the summer and continued that helium in his first game at Hardwood as he scored 23 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 6 steals in the victory. Athletic shooting guard that drained four triples in the win along with slick turnaround jumpers, shot fakes into mid-range jumpers, and was a slick passer off live dribbles. Also was impactful on the defensive end creating turnovers. Senior point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552481' first='Rocco' last='Pagliocca'] brings everything together. He is a leader on the floor getting everyone in position to succeed and is a solid passer. Creative finisher at the rim with a crisp jumper as he had 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2403165' first='Quinton' last='Frakes'] was the junk yard dog for the Patriots getting on the offensive glass and flashing as a passer for 10 points and 11 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id='2830800' first='Tony' last='Salemi'] is another guard that shined on the PHC this summer who had a big outing. The two guard from Wauconda is always in attack mode pushing the pace! Got to the rack for several nice finishes, hit three from deep, and dished it well when in the heart of the defense for 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2127973' first='Austin' last='Carlsen'] is a 6'6” 2027 power forward to track. Stretch four that can shoot it from three and on the baseline. Nose for the basketball and mixes it up inside as he notched 18 points. Alex Ortega is a shifty ball handling guard that also had a nice game for Wauconda.

Top 35 2027s Show Out as St. Viator Tops Buffalo Grove

Another great contest as St. Viator got out early, but Buffalo Grove stormed back in the third quarter. In the end St. Viator did pull away winning 61-50. Junior shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2125608' first='Dawson' last='Charles'] had it all working in this game. The athletic two guard dropped 27 points in the victory. He did it all hitting multiple threes, throwing down in transition off his defense, coast to coast takes, acrobatic layups, and passed it well. Also was impactful defensively getting steals and blocks. Joining him in the backcourt senior 6'2” strong bodied guard Isaiah Mckenny had 12 points. Rock solid on ball defender, cuts off the ball, and is a capable shooter. Sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2751053' first='Jacob' last='Only'] had his moments. The ranked 2028 guard can blow by defenders off shot fakes and with pure burst on his first step. Pushes in the open floor, flashed as a passer, and hit a couple long balls for 9 points.

Buffalo Grove 6'9” five man [player_tooltip player_id='2323618' first='Alex' last='Sirbu'] is one of the better true five men in the junior class. The 2027 center is a dominant rebounder that knows how to high point the ball, box out, and rebound with cat quickness in his area on both ends. He had multiple put backs, ran the floor, fluid spin moves, hook shots, and caught a lob on a baseline out of bounds play for 24 points (10-13 FG) and 15 rebounds. Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2411146' first='Edwin' last='Karnauchovas'] is a tough and gritty 2028 to track. Creative scorer on step throughs, and-1s, and scoop shots. He had 12 points.

Deerfield Blasts Streamwood Looking Impressive Across Board

This game wasn't quite as competitive as the first two games. Deerfield jumped out to a 33-7 lead after the 1st quarter and never looked back going on to win 62-22. Liked what we saw out of their well rounded team. The star is Dartmouth commit [player_tooltip player_id='1552404' first='Jake' last='Pollack'] as the skilled lefty big man did a nice job hitting teammates on cuts and for threes as a passer out of the mid-post area. Ran the floor, garnered deep post position, and finished out of the dunker spot for 15 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2217962' first='Evan' last='Nagler'] is a scrappy and athletic two guard that has a nose for the ball. Flew in out of nowhere for rebounds all game long. Slick handle in the open floor for euro steps and transition buckets. He had 12 points. Junior 6'4” wing [player_tooltip player_id='2125685' first='Tommy' last='Donahue'] put his name on our radar with his size for position and well-rounded skill set. Glue guy for this team with his connective passing, mid-range shot, rebounding, and defense. Sophomore shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='2369868' first='Charlie' last='Yellen'] has a bright future. He is a solid shooter off the catch from the corner and got loose in transition finishing with 7 points. Freshman big man [player_tooltip player_id='2798656' first='Zach' last='Newman'] got some tick as well. The PHI Watch List 2029 6'6” post showed flashes of what he can become. Long arms and good frame with athleticism and touch. Netted 10 points in just 8 minutes.

Prospect Moves on to Winners Side of Bracket

They got out early and Prospect held a pretty consistent lead for the majority of the game as they got the win over Hampshire 53-32. It was Will Stratigos that stepped up for Prospect in this game as the senior lefty guard shot it well from distance along with mixing in a nifty scoop shot. Solid passer and defender that was a big reason they got the win scoring 13 points. Also in the backcourt Colin Tucker scored 8 points as did [player_tooltip player_id='2123656' first='Quinn' last='Zinzer']. Their most intriguing prospects are their big men. [player_tooltip player_id='2834320' first='Danny' last='Simon'] is a 6'6” 2027 five man that has a nice frame and good length. Rebounds well in his area, gets deep post position for hook shots, and can back his man in for scores in the paint going for 8 points. Senior big man [player_tooltip player_id='2454186' first='Luke' last='Christopulos'] came off the bench flashing getting on the offensive glass and sealing in the high/low for a bucket. Anderson Neach brought a spark to them off the bench with his shot making recording 11 points.

Hampshire got 5 points from [player_tooltip player_id='2894776' first='Devin' last=''] Bach who played limited minutes and a couple threes from Trey Simmons scoring 6.

Glenbrook North Tops Maine West as Sophomores Put Name on Map

Next up was Glenbrook North's 71-57 over Maine West. [player_tooltip player_id='2532020' first='Mason' last='Markman'] was a breakout 2028 for us in this game for GBN. The 6'2” strong bodied wing was assertive and efficient attacking off the bounce and passing when needed. He had 18 points (9-10 FG)along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals. At the point senior Nate Fridman is a gritty left handed point guard that can knock down a shot, but he is looking to pass first as he had 11 points and 7 dimes in the win. [player_tooltip player_id='2404146' first='Abel' last='Poothurail'] was a good secondary scorer in this one going for 17 points.

The prospect for Maine West that jumped off the floor to us was [player_tooltip player_id='2831335' first='DeAngelo' last='Rodriguez Jr.'] Plus shooter went 3-7 from deep on his way to 15 points. Good athleticism and could continue to develop as a lead guard. Baker Blevins had a double double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
