This weekend was the first time seeing the incoming junior from Deerfield. Saw team compete in early morning game Sunday and he fills the primary handling role. Consumed a lot of zero gap full court pressure and did a nice job of still orchestrating positive offense. Yellen is able to breakdown defenders on a tight disciplined handle and get the ball where it needs to go. Showed some attacking ability to the cup and drew multiple fouls doing so. He also helps increase the team’s IQ as a hole in providing smart decision making skills on both sides. Should see stock continue to rise.

Deerfield 2028 point guard is set to play a much bigger role for the 3A runner-ups this season. Flashed elite ball-skills and playmaking abilities in their Sunday morning win against Joliet West. A vocal leader on both ends who stayed consistency as a playmaker and scorer throughout this contest. Plays with a ton of pace like much of his teammates. A confident floor-general with plenty of varsity experience already under his belt.

Yellen has played a key role for the Warriors this season and could see his stock rise a bit in the future. I saw a solid performance from Yellen against St. Francis in the Super-Sectional. Showcasing an ability to not lose confidence and knock down shots when needed.

Yellen is a 6’1” guard that has good length.  Skilled wing that is a solid athlete in transition and has a clean looking jumper in the 15-18 foot range.
