Sirbu presents a strong interior presence that deems to be one of the most well rounded post players in the state for the class of 2027. He consistently establishes himself for deep positioning and capitalizes off great footwork and efficient finishes. His arsenal includes a variety of moves including quick catch and drop steps, spin moves off defenders bodies both ways, and multiple jump stop finishes. His ability to play off 2 feet and show patience around the rim was one of the best I’ve seen through this Spring and Summer season. He will exploit mismatches and also generate second chance opportunities. Overall is going to challenge posts on both ends during his senior year because of his old school style approach.

Sirbu was a one man wrecking crew against Bolingbrook.  The top center in the class backed up his recent offer surge with his play at Ridgewood.  Dominant area rebounder who snatched them in traffic consistently for second chance points.  Physical and skilled back to the basket scorer with spin moves and shake when facing up from 8 feet.

I was really impressed with what I saw from him this weekend. Sirbu’s a 6’9″ big man in the class of 2027 that has tons of promise. already showing great physical strength on the interior where he always had his way vs Joliet west. Whether it was his rebounding, defense, and scoring game. I love the floater he displayed as a scorer in this matchup, too. As well as his ability to create separation on the low block. 

On Saturday night Breakaway 3SSB was getting tested by a smaller and quicker team. That was until Alex took over to close out the first half. At 6’9 he was demanding the ball on the block, and came away with a handful of finishes within minutes. Alex showcased a quick spin move on the block to open up quality looks at the rim, and was quick off the floor for two handed dunks when he had a bit of space. All the attention he was garnering in the paint helped free up his shooters on the perimeter as well.

One of the better class of 2027 prospects in Illinois, Sirbu has filled out some over the past 12 months and has become a dependable low-post scorer for coach Kevin Geldon and the Bison of Buffalo Grove. Sirbu runs the floor well, posts with purpose and strength with his back to the basket, and does a nice job of using the glass to bank in short shots in the lane. He had 24 points and made six of his foul shots for Buffalo Grove in its narrow loss to Oak Creek at the Wisconsin vs. Illinois Border Battle.
