No. 5 Waukee (4-0) at No. 3 Waukee Northwest (4-0) -- Tuesday, December 16 at 7:45 pm

The first matchup of the year between two of the top programs in Iowa and crosstown rivals, Waukee vs. Waukee Northwest is a must-watch for any high school hoops fan or college coach that can make it to town next Tuesday.

For the reigning state runners up, [player_tooltip player_id='1978099' first='Colin' last='Rice'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1643192' first='Landon' last='Davis'] -- two high-major commits, Rice to Nebraska and Davis to Illinois -- have started the season as one might expect they would. Rice is a top seven scorer in Class 4A, averaging 26.2 points and 11.2 rebounds per game to go with three steals and 3.2 blocks per contest. Davis is also averaging a double-double at 15 points and 11.2 rebounds per game along with three blocks per game. [player_tooltip player_id='2419793' first='Mack' last='Heitland'] is adding 11 PPG and [player_tooltip player_id='1756989' first='Isaiah' last='Oliver'] leads the way in assists with 5.5 per contest.

For the Warriors, their Texas A&M football and basketball commit [player_tooltip player_id='1765524' first='Evan' last='Jacobson'] is the star of the show, averaging 17 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. They've got a few other double-digit scorers though, as [player_tooltip player_id='2594655' first='Pete' last='Craig'] (13.5), Jai White (12.2) and [player_tooltip player_id='2823296' first='Landon' last='Hanson'] (11) each add to the Waukee scoring output. Craig also leads the way in rebounding at 10.2 per contest.

No 14 Solon (5-0) at No. 19 CPU (4-0) -- Friday, December 19 at 6:45 pm

After defeating expectant 1A state title contender, Iowa City Regina by more than 20 points on Saturday, Solon will face conference foe CPU on the road this week. The Spartans are led by new transfer from Waukee Northwest and son of Ben McCollum, [player_tooltip player_id='2530471' first='Tate' last='McCollum'], who is averaging 21.6 PPG and 2.6 steals per game. Standing at just 5-foot-10, McCollum has come in and changed just how competitive the Spartans can be this season.

All the while, Center Point-Urbana boasts four double-figure scorers this season as a deep squad with a lot of senior leadership. Led by senior and UW-Platteville commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1765520' first='Cooper' last='Grimm'] (13.5 PPG), several others put up double-digits per contest. That list includes [player_tooltip player_id='2886825' first='Cayle' last='Estling'] (12), [player_tooltip player_id='3219730' first='Lucas' last='Lopata'] (11.5) and [player_tooltip player_id='2413508' first='Kinnick' last='Covington'] (10.5). Estling is also shooting a ridiculous 71.4% from three this season, shooting 10-of-14 from the outside and adding five assists per contest.

No. 10 ADM (4-0) at No. 6 Ballard (4-0) -- Friday, December 19 at 7:30 pm

Two returning teams that reached Des Moines last season, this contest was one of my 3A early-season games to watch, and it finds itself among the top games of the week.

A semifinalist in last year's tournament after upsetting Storm Lake, ADM is led by Upper Iowa commit, [player_tooltip player_id='1978130' first='Hudson' last='Lorensen']. The 6-foot-1 guard has started the season on a tear, averaging 23.5 PPG to go with 3.2 rebounds. A score-first guard, Lorensen has done his job this season, helping propel the Tigers to a 4-0 start with wins of 19 or more points in all four games. With senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1978115' first='Trey' last='Bryte'] as the secondary scorer (11.5) and leading rebounder (7.2 rebounds per game) on the roster, ADM appears poised for another run to the Casey's Center.

Ballard looks like it just reloaded going into this season after reaching the state tournament last winter. Returning leading scorer from last season, [player_tooltip player_id='1765518' first='Jude' last='Gibson'] and adding Ankeny Centennial transfer, [player_tooltip player_id='2419714' first='Evan' last='Abbott'], the Bombers possess one of the top scoring duos in the state. So far this season, Gibson is averaging 17.7 PPG, while Abbott is leading the way with 18.2 PPG. With Gibson standing at 6-foot and Abbott at 6-foot-5, the pair provide a mismatch somewhere for opposing teams, and Ballard is another team that will be a tough out come playoff time.
