Whitney showed he is ready for his heightened role and was probably the best player on the floor in Gibbons win over Cape Fear Academy on Friday Night. After a slow start for the team, Whitney used his paint touch ability to create quality looks for himself and others, leading to a complete effort and a win for Gibbons. This allowed the defense to get set where Whitney was a consistent presence in passing lanes and guarding the point of attack. Whitney can make shots off the catch or bounce, but is at his best getting downhill making plays. A true playmaking guard with high IQ and some flare, expect a big year from Whitney.

Freeman is a known producer in the state of North Carolina but he is showing improvement in his feel for the game and the variety in which he scores his baskets. Freeman was in total control and super aggressive on Friday night. He blended his outside touch with his ability to finish through contact inside, making him a constant scoring presence throughout the 32 minutes. A big win over First Flight for Wayne Country Day was in large part to Freeman's scoring prowess.

Moore is an emerging prospect in NC's deep and talented 2028 class. He can play multiple spots in the front-court with his mobility and athleticism being his early calling cards. He plays with a great motor, is making tremendous strides in his skill as a ball handler and shooter. Moore finished with a loud 13 points, multiple dunks in traffic, and was a constant presence on the glass. Expect Moore to continue his rapid improvement this season and beyond.

If you know First Flight and Chad Williams, you know he's always going to have a couple of snipers at his disposal. [player_tooltip player_id='2886421' first='Brody' last='Woods'] is exactly that. True in the gym range, tons of confidence, and the ability to attack a closeout to make a play. Came out of the gates firing with three triples in the opening quarter vs Wayne Country Day. His ability to hit shots well beyond the three point line combined with his comfort as a creator give First Flight a ton of spacing and options offensively. The lefty is a real gamer, he makes winning plays, timely shots, and is ready for any moment.

Zyon is one of the most athletic backcourt players I've seen thus far on this young season. His ability to make above the rim plays in transition is definitely the loudest aspect of his game. What I loved from him on Friday afternoon was his ability as a point of attack defender. He applied constant pressure without being undisciplined, leading to a lot of success for his team. He also played under control, showed some outside touch, and got his teammates involved as they cruised to a 14 point win. Expect McGlone and Peninsula Catholic to have a lot of success and create a lot of memorable highlights all season long.
