We had Brunswick second in our Division I preseason rankings and that will certainly put one of their guard duo in the conversation for Mr Basketball. Between Drexler and [player_tooltip player_id='2288543' first='Sean' last='Barnett'], both should be contending for first team all-state honors and the Blue Devils should be one of the highest scoring Division I teams in the state.

Lima Senior is going to be must watch this winter with tons of guards who can impact the game on both ends of the court. Lima has a history of winning the award as Zavier Simpson, Jamar Butler, Aaron Hutchins and Greg Simpson have all won Mr Basketball from Lima. Could Foster be the next to win the award? We shall see.

Making the move from Toledo Central Catholic to Cincinnati Winton Woods should allow Mack-Russell to play against more up-tempo teams and thrive in transition. One of the most athletic players in the state, Mack-Russel has the physical tools to dominate the ECC. I expect Winton Woods to contend in a crowded Division II region that's stacked with northwest and southwest Ohio powerhouses, if they emerge could Mack-Russell stay in the Mr Basketball convo?

Cincinnati Princeton was ranked 4th in our Division I preseason rankings and Gill is the lone Division I prospect on that team. After a strong summer with Wildcat Select, Gill has improved his perimeter shooting and has always been a talented athlete and defender. Princeton play a fun style of basketball and while they might spread the ball around too much for any individual accolades like Mr Basketball, that recipe should lead to a lot of wins this winter.

Maybe the top traditional point guard in Ohio, Mirgon is an elite table setter for his team. Hilliard Bradley is no stranger to having elite guard play and with Mirgon and [player_tooltip player_id='2461095' first='Kyp' last='Norris'], the Jags are set up for success. While their slow tempo might limited Mirgon's counting numbers, his impact will be up there with just about everybody in the state.

Lutheran East is going for a record fourth straight title and Zeigler is their leading returning scorer and a high major prospect. After Richmond Heights had the opportunity to win a record fourth straight state title and Lutheran East stopped them, the Falcons are now the team that everybody will be trying to snap their streak.

After winning 3SSB 15 U MVP for leading [program_tooltip program_id='2076317' first='Midwest' last='Basketball Club 3SSB'] to the title, Smith is hoping for the same success with Dayton Northridge, a team on the rise. Already holding a couple of Division I offers and is nationally ranked on 247 and Rivals, Smith is one of the top names to know in Ohio. While Sophomores rarely win Mr Basketball, Smith will certainly be a name people bring up this season and could be a favorite to win the award as an upperclassmen.
