Maybe the biggest stock riser of the state tournament, Gill was dominant for a Princeton squad that steamrolled through the Division I bracket. For his performance on Sunday, Gill won the Morgan & Morgan MVP award for the Division I championship game. Gill went 10/12 from the field and connected on all three of his 3-point attempts, finishing off a dominant state tournament where Princeton won every game by 15+ points and Gill scored in double-figures each contest. Princeton also ran excellent sets to get Gill the basketball, with their famous entry to the elbow setting up a backdoor cut connecting for a monster slam dunk by Gill. Expect to see Gill’s stock rise over the grassroots season, he just recently cracked the national 2027 rankings at Prep Hoops, the first national rankings list to include Gill.

Princeton played maybe their best defensive game of the year and rolled past conference rival Oak Hills, who knocked them off in the regular season. Gill used his length defensively for blocks and jumping passing lanes. To end the third quarter, Gill had a lefty layup just before the buzzer that was in the middle of Princeton’s big run to win the game. Impressive resiliency by Princeton to defeat multiple conference rivals who either beat or took them to the final buzzer in the regular season and have no trouble in March.

The Vikings were pushed by a team who gave them all they could handle in the regular season, but to win in March your stars need to shine brightest and the Vikings stars were exceptional on Saturday night at Cintas Center. Gill made shots off the catch, a tough thing to do inside a college arena. Princeton also played patient in the half court and found Gill on multiple cuts where he had some and-1 finishes at the rim. One of the more consistent players in the state, Gill seems to impact the game at a high level on a nightly basis.

A grown man performance by Gill under the bright lights, I liked the fact that he didn’t seem to force anything in the half-court. Gill hit a baseline jumper and a wing 3-pointer and then started getting closer to the rim as the game wore on. You could tell the physicality and aggressiveness that Princeton played with was affecting a shorthanded Lakota West squad that had players out due to injury, flu, foul trouble and cramping in the second half. That allowed Gill to post up some smaller defenders forced into the game and finish layups at the rim. Impressive performance by Gill to help his team try and climb out of a massive early deficit but just couldn’t finish it at the end.

Princeton was locked in once again and got a comfortable victory against a McNicholas squad that should win a lot of games this winter. That type of performance is why I’m so high on Princeton this season because of their ability to turn teams over and quickly score in transition. Gill was often at the finishing end of these buckets with a couple of strong lefty finishes at the rim. Princeton also executed sets and BLOB plays to get easy looks for Gill and his teammates, the sign of a well coached team with great chemistry. Expect to hear a lot about Princeton this winter.

Cincinnati Princeton was ranked 4th in our Division I preseason rankings and Gill is the lone Division I prospect on that team. After a strong summer with Wildcat Select, Gill has improved his perimeter shooting and has always been a talented athlete and defender. Princeton play a fun style of basketball and while they might spread the ball around too much for any individual accolades like Mr Basketball, that recipe should lead to a lot of wins this winter.

Gill battled an injury that kept him out for a majority of June basketball with Cincinnati Princeton. That time might’ve been beneficial for the Vikings to go through some tough opponents without Gill and relying on new faces to step up. Thankfully for Gill he was healthy in time for Rock Hill with Wildcat Select 16 U where he had a tremendous weekend to help them advance to the semifinals. Gill has a strong frame and is one of the best athletes in Ohio’s 2027 class. His improved efficiency from 3-point range was the biggest reason why he moved up in our rankings and why schools like USF have already offered him.

Gill had a strong showing in a tough 2-point loss to Game Elite, and proved to be a nice compliment to fellow backcourt mate Jaylen Gunther. The 6-foot-2 combo guard displayed good handles, the moves to create off the dribble, has nice touch on the floater off the Euro-step move to get by his defender, and has good body control to absorb contact down the lane for the lay-up. Gill moves well off the ball, gets to his shot spots, and was effective with the catch and shoot 3-ball. Gill also made good decisions and the court vision when playing off the pick and roll action, finding his bigs rolling to the basket in stride.

One of the bigger stock risers in the May live period from Ohio, Gill missed most of June with an injury. It was great to see him back on the court making an impact at both ends of the court as the power wing was finishing at the rim through contact and making things difficult for opposing offenses with his physicality. The key swing skill for Gill will be the jump shot and he had a couple games where he got confident and knocked down jumpers and really dominated the competition. Gill helped lead a semifinal push for Wildcat Select and hit a layup to send that game into overtime before they fell short in a thriller.

Similar to Cornett, Gill is an athletic wing who has gone on a sharp upward trajectory over the past 12 months and appears like a breakout candidate in the GMC this winter. After standing out for Wildcat Select at the spring live period, Gill received an offer from USF and has also been closely monitored by Kent State, one of his first offers. Look for Gill to continue to add schools of interest as more Division I programs see him in June and July.
