Southern Arizona 2028 Standouts Part One

The Southern Arizona Showcase hosted over 150 student athletes from over 40 different high schools across Southern Arizona. Players were placed on teams and played in 2-3 games throughout the day. One of the top classes overall at this event was the 2028 class. Below are the 2028 boys who made the most of this event and boosted their stock.    No player boosted their stock this weekend like Knight did. Arguably the top two way guard based on performance at this showcase. Knight has a great handle and an incredibly fast first step. Gets to his spots and can score at will. Defensively, Knight was creating havoc for opposing guards all day forcing many turnovers. Knight, a recent out of state transfer has already made his presence known and will continue to do so this upcoming season.       Teasley was not only the best 2028 shooter in the showcase but one of the top shooters regardless of class. Scoring with a very quick and consistent shot. Very skilled dribbler and scores well through contact. One play stood out while watching Teasley. He got a steal, did a wrap around dribble behind his back to get by three defenders and used his speed to score at the other end. Teasley could be a Southern Arizona leader in three point percentage this upcoming season. A great all around guard who will be a key piece to the Sahuaro Cougars upcoming season.     This is the second year Banks has participated in this event. Just like last year he came to prove himself. He made the top 20 game last year as an incoming freshmen and proved once again he's a top player by making it once again this year. Very quick first step to blow by his opponents and elevates high to get off his mid range jumper. An excellent rebounder for his size. A strong two way guard who plays with a lot of confidence.     Butler was very under the radar until his showing this weekend. A strong guard who can handle the physical part of the game. Strong rebounding ability and scores second chance opportunities well. A strong defender and communicates well vocally. Butler has the assets to develop into a good 2028 prospect. He will look to help get Gregory back to the state championship game and based on his performance this weekend will be a key piece on that journey. Definitely a player I plan on keeping a close eye on this upcoming season.     Lindsley set the tone for the day as he played in the very first game of the showcase. Threw down a dunk just after tip off to get the excitement going. Showed his ability to be a threat beyond the arc. Shot the ball very well and led both teams in scoring. He played consistently throughout the day impacting the game on both sides of the ball. Lindsley is another standout on a young Sahuaro team who can have a breakout season. If he continues to play with a chip on his shoulder we will be talking a lot about him this upcoming season.     Kaden was one of the more interesting prospects participating. At 6'5 Lea has the look and the frame to attract coaches attention. He backed the look up with his performance this weekend. Lea was dominant in the paint on both ends. Securing rebounds, scoring the ball and blocking shots consistently. Lea could climb the rankings should he continue developing the way he is. Buena is replacing a lot of graduating seniors from last seasons team. Expect Lea to be a valuable part this upcoming season.
