Southern Arizona 2028 Standouts Part Two

The Southern Arizona Showcase hosted over 150 student athletes from over 40 different high schools across Southern Arizona. Players were placed on teams and played in 2-3 games throughout the day. One of the top classes overall at this event was the 2028 class. Below are the 2028 boys who made the most of this event and boosted their stock.    Salter continues to develop well. He had a great performance over the weekend. A very strong player on the defensive end. Tipping the ball away from opponents and rebounded very well. Salter is tapping into his athleticism and using it to his advantage to block shots and finish well inside the paint. Salter plays the game the right way and was one of my favorite players to watch this weekend.     Castillo handles the ball very well. Showed he can advance the ball through pressure and make a play. Uses screens effectively to get to the basket and also has the ability to pop out for a three. Finds the open man through traffic with strong passes. Enzo continues to take leaps in his development with every showing.     Buchanan got a lot of reps in his freshman year on varsity for the Ravens. He will be leaned on heavily for their success this upcoming season. A strong three point threat offensively. Has a good handle and can see the court well. Great off ball movement and is very effective with his moves. Buchanan knows how to impact the game with and without the ball. His growth in this game will be fun to watch over the next few seasons.     Urquidy is a very quick and relentless defender. A high energy and vocal player. Has a nice midrange shot and finishes very well through contact. Shot the ball very well of the dribble. Has a very nice between the leg step back he uses to create space and get a nice shot off. As soon as the shot goes in Urquidy is immediately defending the inbound pass. A scrappy player who knows the game well.     Nick Adams was a very intriguing player to watch. Adams showed he can shoot the ball and score well. A good defensive player. Very quick and has a strong motor. Adams got a hand injury at the end of the first half of his second game that affected his shooting. I got to witness a coach talking with him about how to continue to impact the game in other ways. He came out in the second half and impacted the game with rebounding and a strong defensive performance. Easily led the second half in rebounding. Adams was visually one of the more coachable kids playing this weekend.     Griffin was another player that was fun to watch. High energy every possession. A disciplined on ball defender with quick feet. Good handles and quick step to get to his spots and score. Shot the ball well off the catch. Strong and physical player. This was my first viewing of Griffin in this setting and I was impressed with his play.     Jaxon Lee was one of the better shot blockers in the 2028 group. Timing each block perfectly. Very strong and physical player in the paint. Rebounds extremely well and was able to finish with either hand off the glass. A capable three point shooter. Effective screen setter and great pick and roll footwork. Lee is another player I expect to climb the rankings as his development continues.
