October 3-5 I attended the annual Border League in Nevada at various high schools. Coronado and Silverado high schools were a couple of the main sites where college coaches were watching the talent from across the country.

Here were some of the Junior-Freshmen Standout guards I watched

[player_tooltip player_id='1651788' first='Jakyi' last='Miles'] Mesa (Pictured)

One of the top soph PGs in the West with size is Miles. He has a nasty crossover into a pull-up from mid to the three and will still hit shots off the catch. He will fall away from mid-range, dribble drive in traffic and now dunk it more impressively on the break after a steal. He keeps his dribble alive amidst heavy pressure with ease and will make an extra pass.

[player_tooltip player_id='1546987' first='Adan' last='Diggs'] Millennium

A combo guard with size who scores it from all levels with off the dribble mid-range jumpers, lob dunks and deep threes. He can create shots for others with drive and kicks and uses the pick and roll to his advantage and will usually rise up over the defender from mid to the three. He will crossover into a drive and finish with his left. He finished with 27 points (including 22 in the 2nd half).

[player_tooltip player_id='1555181' first='Adrian' last='Higuera'] Millennium

A scoring lead guard will shoot with catch threes, mid-range jumpers and slick spin moves off the dribble to create the separation and get to the basket. He changes speeds smartly to get to the basket or to get a shot off from the perimeter. He is a very good passer with lobs and drive and kicks.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276224' first='Tre' last='Wilkins'] AZ Compass Prep Grind

A true combo guard plays at a good pace and sees the court well. He loves playing out of the pick and roll action and makes the play. He will score it with mid-range pull-ups off the dribble and catch threes. He can handle the pounding inside with his stronger frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='1893666' first='Griffey' last='Williams'] Basha

An undersized scoring guard can fill it up with catch threes, fall aways and he has a decent handle to dribble past his initial defenders. He has a super quick trigger from mid to the three and his shooting will earn him immediate playing time when big Lazor is sitting the first nine games of the season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2276223' first='Kingston' last='Montague'] Basha

A highly skilled combo guard scores it from the perimeter and he can also burst by his defender to the basket. He will rattle in threes off the catch and tough mid-range jumpers off the dribble. Magee and him will have to be good all year if they want to win a ring.

[player_tooltip player_id='2802608' first='Liam' last='Mitakaro'] Bella Vista Prep

A bigger point guard who can score. He has a very smooth handle and will throw perfect passes off of a live dribble with some shift and speed with the ball. He is a good shot creator and will get his shot off from the three point line or pull-up from mid.

[player_tooltip player_id='2241513' first='Lyris' last='Robinson'] Bella Vista Prep

A bigger guard who can play nearly three positons on the court with his handle and size. He scores it with downhill drives, threes, reverse layups and he always manages to get to the free throw line with his aggressive play. He rebounds the ball at a good clip and defend many positions.

[player_tooltip player_id='2146269' first='Daijon' last='Grayson'] Mesa

A quickly growing defensive PG who can shoot. He is a high level athlete to rebound and play above the rim. He has great speed in the open court and he is a tough on-ball defender. He scores with threes off the catch, downhill quick bursts to the rim and will even catch lob passes for layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='2280210' first='Josh' last='Stewart'] Mesa

A combo scoring guard will score with offensive rebound put backs, jump stop into a mid-range runners and threes off the catch. He is scrappy on defense as he took a charge and rebounded well. When he gets hot, like he did in the second half of a game, he takes immense pressure off Miles and Grayson.

[player_tooltip player_id='2251690' first='Innocent' last='Onwo'] Mesa

A bigger freshman guard likes to get to the basket and will hit the three off the catch or stop and pop from mid-range. He is a physical defender and rebounds well with his stronger frame. He is a natural downhill player but he is starting to mix in perimeter jumpers into his game too.
