PHI released our first look at the 2029 class with our initial watch list which features 40 prospects we believe are worth monitoring this upcoming high school season. We look at them position by position in 2029 Watch List: Point Guards!

Players are in Alphabetical Order

[player_tooltip player_id='2862587' first='Dajuan' last='Brown'] (Bradley Bourbonnais)

The Bradley Bourbonnais 6'1” guard is a well built freshman that has nice strength and functional athleticism. Best asset is his perimeter shooting knocking in the long ball along with his toughness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2675420' first='Quinn' last='Carroll'] (Lyons)

Carroll was one of the top performers at the recent Freshman Showcase along with shining playing up with the Wolves in July. He has quality size at 6'1” with elite shot making ability. He was perhaps the best shooter at the camp knocking them in off the catch and bounce equally well. Can handle it getting to the cup with blow by ability. Good passing feel at a young age as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2963986' first='Larry' last='Ellis'] (Bloom)

Lengthy guard with some solid size in the backcourt. What we like about him is his ability to impact on both ends of the floor. Can be a pesky on ball defender along with a solid playmaker.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918205' first='Keiwon' last='Gulley'] (Bloom)

The second of the Bloom trio is Gulley. He is a high scoring point guard that can rack up points in a hurry. Active defender that changes ends quickly.

[player_tooltip player_id='2886496' first='Travis' last='Jamison'] (Whitney Young)

Jamison opened our eyes during the first game of the high school live period as the 6'4” combo guard lit up the nets and continued that helium through the summer into the Freshman Showcase where he was among the best in attendance. Elite shooter with a free and easy release. More than just that as he is a smooth creator off the bounce getting in the lane for finishes and trips to the foul line. Good passing feel for a young guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2767906' first='Ronald' last='Johnson'] (Mt. Carmel)

Johnson is another big combo guard that projects as one of the best in this class in the early going. He is a big guard at 6'3” who is effective playing both on and off the ball. Such a smooth player already with an excellent skill level early in the process. Gets downhill for acrobatic finishes and makes passes off live dribbles.

[player_tooltip player_id='2940657' first='Duece' last='Johnson'] (Marist)

This kid has the “it” factor! The 6'0” guard has excellent length and will continue to grow. Brings it on the defensive end getting steals. Speed is the name of the game in transition and has a capable jumper in the half court.

[player_tooltip player_id='2964015' first='Kumasi' last='Jones'] (DePaul Prep)

Jones was outstanding at the Freshman Showcase. He made his name known right from the beginning as the 5'11” guard brings length and projectability. Shot maker on the perimeter and gets in the lane for soft touch finishes. Impacts on the defensive end as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='2797812' first='Noah' last='Lawrence'] (Marion)

Marion 5'11” lead guard that has a wiry frame. Impressed at multiple camps this fall as a silky smooth ball handler using that along with his speed to get to the rim. Plays with a ton of flair and has passing instincts.

[player_tooltip player_id='2918202' first='Kaden' last='McClellan'] (Bloom)

McClellan is the final remaining of the Bloom Big 3 guards. This 5'8” point guard can score and pass equally well. Good pick/roll player, makes sound decisions off the dribble, and gets in the lane with quickness for soft touch finishes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2906817' first='Kaidan' last='Mporokoso'] (Waubonsie Valley)

Another Mporokoso is coming at Waubonsie Valley! This 6'1” combo guard plays with great pace and attacks off the dribble for scores in the paint. Solid vision in both transition and the half court. Uses length well on the defensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id='2947687' first='Dakari' last='Nesbitt'] (Thornton)

Nesbitt is a bucket getting guard from Thornton. Brings that Chicago area toughness to the table. Takes and makes tough jumpers from deep. Good shooter that can go off in a split second. Quickness off the bounce and uses his speed to get in the lane for layups. Converts through contact and boards for a guard.

[player_tooltip player_id='2369872' first='Cody' last='Rader'] (Geneva)

Radar is a lead guard that caught our staff's attention at the High Academic Showcase. Exciting playmaker that can shoot it from deep, has shifty handles, and plays the game with flair.

Harlem Schauf (Carbondale)

The 5'11” lead guard from southern Illinois gets to the hoop with such ease creating off the bounce for nifty scores in the lane. Soft touch finishing game with a sweet pull up shot from two and three.

[player_tooltip player_id='2917035' first='Mosiah' last='Tang'] (Home School)

Tang is so much fun to watch with the ball in his hands. Excellent speed and burst putting pressure on the rim. Good body control in the paint and is active getting steals defensively. His biggest value comes with his speed in the open floor.

Chadwick Williams (Providence Catholic)

This 6'1” combo absolutely lives in the paint where the southpaw scores with a nifty finishing game. Shifty handles winning off the bounce and changing gears when he needs to. Solid shooter from beyond the arc and competes defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2385677' first='Noah' last='Young'] (Lincoln Park)

Young is a 5'7” guard that really knows how to play the game. Excellent reads passing the ball in both transition and the half court. Pushes up the floor and has shake off the bounce.
