Johnson stood out on both sides of the floor but really impacted defensively with his consistent on-ball pressure and using his length and quickness to cause problems in the passing lanes. It’s always a joy to see guys that like to guard and at this stage Johnson remains a effective 2 way threat. Offensively, Johnson showed nifty movement in the paint with soft touch finishes outreaching over defenders arms. He made a cool spin move finish through contact and was able to get paint touches numerous times with the ball. The Marist guard will be intriguing to watch over the next 3 years with his length, skill, and mobility.

To fully understand the type of potential Johnson has you have to see him with the Wolves 15U.  On that team he showcases his massive upside as a combo guard with the ability to create for himself and others off the dribble.  Acrobatic layups with great body control at the cup.  Wins off the bounce, but can also shoot it from three as well as being a solid distributor.

Saw Johnson compete at our Fall exposure camp and young guard from Marist continues to provide plus feel in multiple aspects of game. Caught squads’ early morning 8AM contest and he bought a ton of energy from the git go. Tallied him for four offensive rebounds in first half alone in a slower mode game. Utilizes length around the rim and showed versatility offensively with a coast to coast finish and spotting up for 3. Makes productive reads in ½ court setting to hit cutters with smart timing and decision making. Helped team to a first place finish out of 70+ teams in 15U division.
