The Maryland Expo Team 4 Report

Team 4 arrived at the Maryland Team Expo with a dynamic blend of talent and versatility, showcasing a roster packed with players who excel in both individual skills and team play. With a mix of small quick guards, and athletic wings, this group demonstrated the ability to compete at a high level on both ends of the floor. The team's collective energy, defensive toughness, and offensive creativity stood out throughout the event, as each player brought a unique skill set that contributed to a well-rounded and competitive unit. From sharpshooters and crafty playmakers to physical defenders and high-motor big men, Team 4 consistently played with passion and cohesiveness, making them a formidable presence at the camp and a team to watch moving forward.    Although he was the smallest camper on this team, he had no issue making plays within the flow of the action. Obazee is a smart, unselfish lead guard with sharp quickness, reliable perimeter shooting, and a tight handle. Next in his development process is working on his ability to move without the ball, as it would open him up to more scoring chances. Obazee excels at penetrating to the basket. He knows how to create off the dribble and apply scoring pressure. Ball-handling is solid. Reliable point-of-attack guard who knows how to get paint touches and defend for 94 feet. Excels in transition and advances the ball very well.”     Given his blend of energy, perimeter shooting, and defensive toughness, he found ways to actively fill in the gaps for this group. Smoots is a capable creator but was arguably at his best when spotting up and operating without the ball in his hands. Next in his development process is working on the use of his off hand, as it would make him a better creator. “Snoots is a scrappy defender who plays with high energy and an edge.     Crafty, two-guard who knows how to dictate the action or fill it up as a scorer from all levels. Possesses a solid frame, quick first step, and explosive burst when attacking. Creates well for himself and others off the dribble and consistently makes smart decisions with the ball in his hands. Capable cutter and spot-up threat. Excels in transition. Utilizes his length well to be disruptive defensively.     Given his size and young age, it was easy to be impressed with his contributions on both ends of the floor. Hawkins showed the ability to run a team with a nice blend of penetration, playmaking, and defensive prowess. Next in his development process is working on his consistency as a three-point shooter, as it would make him a more complete player. Hawkins is a quick and feisty floor general. Excellent quickness and shiftiness with the ball; plays with speed and energy. Competes with a chip on his shoulder for his size. Pushes tempo, gets paint touches, and looks to set up bigs in the two-man game. Plays with confidence.     A fierce guard plays with a chip on his shoulder and left no doubt that he's one of the most impactful players in the building. His relentless work ethic and fearless approach made him stand out among bigger bodies, validating that toughness, heart, and skill can't be measured by height.     Bolding is a smart, solid guard. Bolding is a lethal shooting threat with solid range and a quick release, forcing opponents to stay attached at all times. However, he's capable of attacking off the bounce and finishing or setting up others.     Shot-making guard who possesses the ability to make an impact with or without the ball in his hands. Reliable 3pt threat on the dribble or off the catch. Capable of filling it up as a scorer from all levels. Impress with his ability to get downhill and make plays at the rim finishing or dishing to a open teammates. Know how to move without the ball and find open seams within the defense. Solid creator. Plays with energy defensively. Operates within the flow of the action and expands his production as needed. I look for Zedak to be a focal point for Walt Whitman this season.     Sidbury is a well-known piece with obvious physical appeal and considerable upside on both ends of the floor. Sidbury showed to be a terrific defensive cog with strength, physicality, and athleticism to wreak havoc for opponents. His motor and physical tools allow him to rebound at a quality rate and toggle across multiple positions defensively. Sidbury will be an interesting Chess piece to the Fairfax Christian program this year.     Skilled, well-rounded wing with the IQ, size, and athleticism to affect all facets of the game. Natural glue-guy. Gilmetdinov does a healthy amount of everything on the court and is adaptable to team needs in every setting. Reliable shooter, penetrator, and overall scorer from all levels, but quietly underrated as a passer. Quality defender and rebounder for his size/position. Simply a solid player who doesn't possess any glaring weaknesses on either end of the floor.     Quick little guard played hard on both ends of the floor. Frempong showed himself to be a willing on ball defender and passer. On defense, he showed himself to be aggressive on-ball defender who applies constant pressure and forced his share of turnovers against others guards in the camp.     Proved to be a true blue-collar warrior at the The Expo showcase, bringing relentless energy that never wavered from start to finish. His nonstop motor carried him throughout the camp, built on toughness, versatility, and hustle.
