Bobby Zedak

Expert Analysis
Colby Giacubeno | Prep Hoops Scout
Zedak got off to a quick start to this one and set an early tone for Whitman as he sprinted the lanes in transition for a couple of easy buckets to get going early. He maintained that energy throughout, but in the halfcourt remained patient while making sound reads both as a shooter and ball-mover within their offense. The flurry of buckets in the first half would account for 13 of his 15 points on the night, but the gravity he demanded throughout the rest of the game opened up the floor for others in the second half as Whitman played in more of a halfcourt setting.

Zedak is the type of off-ball scorer who’s going to keep his foot on the gas no matter the score or situation. If there’s an opportunity where he can put the ball in the bucket or feels that he has an advantageous matchup, the 6-foot-3 guard won’t hesitate going to work. A confident shooter from deep, Zedak plays well out of closeouts understanding the demand he gets from his defender and can play off 1-2 dribbles with good balance before rising up from the mid-range or using push floaters in the middle of the paint. He keeps things simple and attacks in a straight-line fashion. He can bring physicality around the rim, but also knows how to use the aggression of his defender to his advantage in baiting for fouls. As usual, head coach Chris Lun has Whitman humming with a 12-1 record and Zedak leads the group in scoring at 16.5 points per outing.

15p vs Northwestern
-Zedak continues to display his 2-way value as a prospect that doesn’t need the ball to score, impacting the game as a versatile player that can slide up or down the lineup depending on his team’s rotations each night. Zedak curled around a double screen to lace a 3, showed some good burst to recover back into the play to block a layup attempt in transition, had a nice catch and 1-dribble sidestep finish in transition, and knocked down a pair of up fake side step 3s once the defender flew past. Should be towards the top of the list for local small college programs looking for a G/W prospect.

Shot-making guard who possesses the ability to make an impact with or without the ball in his hands. Reliable 3pt threat on the dribble or off the catch. Capable of filling it up as a scorer from all levels. Impress with his ability to get downhill and make plays at the rim finishing or dishing to a open teammates. Know how to move without the ball and find open seams within the defense. Solid creator. Plays with energy defensively. Operates within the flow of the action and expands his production as needed. I look for Zedak to be a focal point for Walt Whitman this season.

-Zedak is a guy that continues to impress our staff as a do-it-all guard that can adjust to any role on a team. He is a willing passer that can find teammates from a standstill or off the bounce. He shoots it well from beyond the arc and has good touch around the basket. He has made pretty significant improvements to his finishing bag around the basket, utilizing up fakes and pivots to patiently score around his matchup. And he is extremely unselfish at both ends of the floor as a team defender that is willing to take charges or accept any individual matchup.

-Keep coming away impressed with Zedak’s all around game as a guard/wing tweener that can help his team win games in a myriad of ways. He always has active hands defensively to poke out steals both on or off the ball. He has proven to be a consistent scorer and C+S shooter on the perimeter but also finds opportunities to sneak in to steal rebounds from bigs. And in this showcase he did a great job of the one-more pass–specifically moving the ball from one side to the other to get his team a great look at the basket. He’s made improvements to his body, usually comes up with 50/50 balls in a crowd, and prioritizes winning over stats.

-Zedak brings a ton of value as a guard that isn’t afraid to mix it up in the paint or in scrums for loose balls/long rebounds but also as an off-ball mover that can hit shots. Always come away impressed by Zedak’s ability to get his balance under him quickly off of movement, after picking up a loose ball, or after splitting a screen to quickly rise up for a jumper from all 3 levels. The touch to be able to score from all over the floor whether it’s a long 3 or a short jumper in the key shows the sophistication of his skillset. Should be a huge piece for Whitman this year.

-Saw Zedak for the first time this summer with his HS team in the MBCA tournament and came away impressed by his unselfish game. Zedak serves as a good connector on the wing, unselfishly collecting several hockey assists and directing traffic from the top of the key. He uses his size well to chip in and steal some offensive rebounds in each game but his real value comes as a 3 point shooter that can knock down open looks. Zedak scored in double figures in each of the last 8 games to close out a productive summer league season in the CHSL, expect him to be a key cog for the Vikes this year in Montgomery County.

-Loved Zedak’s activity and leadership in this one as a 2/3 tweener that can hit shots, rebound, and push the pace in transition. Zedak is a capable three point shooter but served as an effective connector that swung several one-more passes across the paint to find efficient looks for teammates in the corners. Zedak came up with 2 huge rebounds down the stretch to force OT and played with a cool reserve in regulation as well as the extra frame. Should be a fun small college prospect to track in 2026.
