Trio of Top 5 Prospects Live Up to Billing

The top three prospects coming into the event more than lived up to the billing clearly standing out above the rest as the best players in the gym. Those three are [player_tooltip player_id='2531961' first='Amarion' last='Smith-Holley'] (Richwoods), [player_tooltip player_id='2125627' first='Ethan' last='Vahl'] (Oswego), and [player_tooltip player_id='2194655' first='Braydon' last='Porter'] (Yorkville) are all in the top 5 and more than proved deserving. Smith-Holley is a lead guard that went to work in his last 5 on 5 game. He was so explosive off the bounce throwing down sick dunks one after another. Vahl is a silky smooth operator that can play both on and off the ball. Feathery shot from beyond the arc was on point in the game we saw. Knocked in turnaround jumpers and also made quick passes on the move. Showed a complete game. Porter is a premium athlete with strength and plays above the rim. Threw down some thunderous dunks in traffic displaying burst. Also shot it well from the perimeter.

St. Ignatius Perimeter Quartet Make for Bright Future

We saw a lot of prospects from St. Ignatius on Sunday. Their top sophomore is point guard [player_tooltip player_id='2531962' first='Amir' last='Tucker']. Excellent ball handler, shot maker, and has passing feel. [player_tooltip player_id='2877526' first='DJ' last='Caldwell'] brings plus positional size, shooting, and a high-motor on the perimeter. [player_tooltip player_id='2194657' first='Josiah' last='Hall'] is an intriguing bucket getter. [player_tooltip player_id='2433752' first='Walker' last='Ross'] is a tough as nails guard that defends at a high level and is a crafty ball handler.

Central Illinois Wings Have Big Days

There were a ton of quality wings from central Illinois at the event. Normal wing [player_tooltip player_id='2542412' first='Chase' last='Kasten'] has a really bright future. He is an athletic and skilled wing that can score from all three levels. Metamora wing [player_tooltip player_id='2751060' first='Brady' last='Jones'] is a strong and versatile wing that is a winning player. He can shoot it from deep, win off the bounce, and plays tough defense. It was my first chance seeing Metamora's [player_tooltip player_id='2916010' first='Sam' last='Koch'] who is one to track with his size, instincts, and skill. Peoria Richwoods wing [player_tooltip player_id='2362360' first='Anfernee' last='Moore'] closed out the day strong. Used his strength and physicality getting to the paint and finished extremely well. Also showed he can knock down shots in the mid-range and creating off a jab step from three.

Yorkville Forward Taking Game to New Heights

[player_tooltip player_id='2532003' first='Joey' last='Jakstys'] from Yorkville continues to impress each time we see him. He is a bouncy forward that originally we projected as more of a four, but there is a lot more perimeter skill in there which he showed throughout the day winning off the bounce at will.

Upside Forwards Show Two Way Potential

Liked the upside and ability to make an impact on both ends in a trio of forwards in [player_tooltip player_id='2819731' first='Solomon' last='Morrison'] (Metea Valley), [player_tooltip player_id='2797229' first='Jaeden' last='Sanders'] (Joliet Catholic), and [player_tooltip player_id='2821675' first='Jahari' last='Sanders'] (Joliet Catholic). All have long and rangy frames and defended at a high level. What intrigues me most is none of them have scratched the surface of the player they will become.

Big Bodied Skilled Big Men Showcase Versatility

Waubonsie Valley big man [player_tooltip player_id='2766431' first='Kyler' last='Payne'] and Crystal Lake South post [player_tooltip player_id='2860144' first='Ryan' last=''] Morgan both had big days. They each are well built big men that bring skill to the table with the way they score, pass, light on their feet, and have touch.

Thomas Primed to Be Face of De La Salle

With the transfer of many De La Salle prospects the top one that is left is 2028 standout wing [player_tooltip player_id='2532031' first='Roosevelt' last='Thomas']. Big and strong guard that bullies his way downhill with force finishing through defenders like a running back.
