The 2029 class is starting to take shape, and this summer gave me a good look at who's ready to make an early impact. A few players stood out with their energy, skill, and ability to step up in big moments. Here are six prospects that caught my attention heading into their freshman year.    Thompson II has one of the most impressive motors in his class, consistently bringing energy and intensity every time he steps on the floor. He thrives as a downhill attacker, using his quick first step to get past defenders and finish strong through traffic. A tough scorer around the rim, he embraces contact and finds ways to convert in challenging situations. Beyond attacking the basket, he's shown the ability to create his own shot in one-on-one situations, making him a versatile offensive threat with a growing skill set.     One of the most complete players in his class, he already has the height and size to compete at the varsity level and make an impact on both ends of the floor. He proved that this summer and is set to be a key piece for Liberty this season. His versatility stands out — he can guard multiple positions while also playing multiple roles offensively. Trevin's ability to score in a variety of ways was on full display: attacking off the dribble, finishing through contact, and knocking down the three consistently. Simply put, he's an impactful player who will make his presence felt right away.     Poised and calculated, the young point guard looks ready to take the next step in leading Higley on a run at the title. What stood out most was his composure — he played at his own pace, never sped up, and controlled the game with confidence. Offensively, he proved he can score on all three levels while also creating opportunities for his teammates. With the ball on a string and the ability to make smart reads, Rider is a tough match up and a reliable floor general.     One of the top point guards in his class, he showed a little bit of everything in his game. What stood out most was his confidence creating his own shot and his ability to rebound at a high level for his position, despite his size. He plays with tremendous energy and passion, and once he finds his rhythm, he's tough to slow down. Opposing defenders will have their hands full trying to stay in front of him.     A versatile scorer who showed he can put the ball in the basket from all three levels. He knocked down threes with confidence, hit tough pull-ups in the mid-range, and attacked downhill to finish strong at the rim. Offensively, he proved he can adjust to whatever the defense gave him and still find ways to be effective.   What makes him stand out even more is how active he stays on both ends of the floor. He consistently crashed the glass, defended his assignment with effort, and made key plays in big moments that swung the momentum in his team's favor.     He plays with great composure and pace; he stood out as one of the better transition scorers I've seen in this class all summer. He brings strong energy and is always in attack mode, constantly putting pressure on the defense. If he carries over even a portion of what he showed this summer, he's set up for an impressive freshman campaign.
