Made a strong impact on both ends of the floor with his activity level and motor. He rebounded well, ran the floor consistently, and applied pressure on the defense by attacking downhill. He finished effectively over defenders, embraced contact, and earned trips to the free-throw line. He also showcased the ability to knock down the three-ball when left open. Beyond the scoring, he did a good job orchestrating the offense, displaying a steady handle and making sound decisions with the ball in his hands.

High-motor guard that was highly effective in transition, constantly putting pressure on defenses in the open floor. Did a great job attacking the rim and finishing through traffic, showing the ability to play above the rim around defenders. Also proved effective in the half-court, getting to the basket with minimal dribbles and attacking gaps aggressively off the bounce.

Jacobi Thompson II is a phenomenal athlete with legit tools to get to the next level. He gets downhill in a hurry and is a threat to take off for a monster dunk at any given moment. He also uses his touch, coordination, and toughness to convert tough finishes. As a defender, he flies around and wreaks havoc, coming up with steals and deflections. Expect him to be a prospect who picks up serious steam.

Jacobi is one of the most versatile defenders in Arizona only as a freshman. Jacobi had to often guard the biggest guy on the opposing team. He is able to guard the 1-5 on the high school level and do so effectively. He has a long wingspan that allows him to pick the pockets of ballhandlers. He plays the passing lanes and anticipates passes that lead to fast break dunks. He is a great weak side shot blocker with great timing. Jacobi’s overall work ethic on the defensive side of the ball sets him apart and allows him to be an elite defender.
