Incoming Freshmen Names to Know, Part Two

Now that the summer grassroots season is officially in the rearview mirror it is time to start looking into the future a bit. A big part of that is welcoming the incoming Class of 2029 to our coverage here at Prep Hoops Indiana. There have been a handful of names mentioned from high school coverage in the month of June and some summer grassroots events in July, but for the most part these are new names to our website. With the annual Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase just over a month away on September 7th let's begin to highlight some of the top incoming prospects in the Class of 2029. The 6'7" wing is already incredibly tall and long while having the skill of a guard. He can initiate offense as a ball handler and very likely isn't done growing. Brobston, the son of Frankton High School's head coach, will make an instant impact at the varsity level. He is a very intriguing long-term prospect.     Another high-level incoming freshman at Gary West Side, Clay Jr. also made an instant impression at the Charlie Hughes Showcase in June. The dynamic guard has good positional size in the backcourt and projects as an athletic, physical, two-way difference maker. He creates a great one-two punch with Prentiss Gates as a core to build for years to come.     Hopkins is already 6'7" with a strong build for a freshman. He holds his own on the glass and isn't afraid to physically bang around on the interior with guys older, bigger, and stronger than he is as an incoming freshman. The Fishers High School forward was in the rotation throughout the month of June for the defending Class 4A State Runner-Up and was very effective playing both 14u and 15u for [program_tooltip program_id='2076927' first='Indy' last='Heat'] on the EYBL Circuit in the summer.     East Chicago Central has a very talented freshman class that will look to fill some big shoes that are graduating. Meux is one that will step in right away in the backcourt as a primary ball handler and dynamic playmaker. He is incredibly quick with the ball in his hands and is capable of consistently getting paint touches off of the bounce. The 6'1" guard is fearless when attacking bigger opponents as well. He is one of a handful of incoming freshman that will likely earn varsity minutes.     We haven't seen much of Russell yet at this point, but we certainly hope to see him at the upcoming Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase. The incoming freshman at Madison High School had a great spring and summer for the Louisville Magic, a highly successful program, and is considered one of the top three-point shooters in Indiana's Class of 2029.     Salas is one of several very talented incoming freshmen down in the southern Indiana. It has been a good couple of years for talent down near the Ohio River. This 6'2" guard features impressive versatility with size and athleticism on the wing with the skill-level of a point guard. Look for him to make an instant impact as a freshman at Scottsburg High School.     Yet another very good incoming freshmen down in the southern Indiana, Siltz is one we have hard about for awhile now. He is a long, fluid guard that will likely put up some very big scoring numbers at Class 1A Henryville. Siltz has already signed up for the Prep Hoops Indiana Freshman Showcase in September and we look forward to evaluating him further at our big event.     Coming off of a very strong spring and summer, Upshaw Jr. should enter the high school season with plenty of confidence and make an instant impact in the varsity rotation for Michigan City. The dynamic, playmaking point guard is so smooth and comfortable with the ball in his hands. He has a high basketball IQ, quick change of pace, and creative finishing ability against size inside.
