Iverson Classic 2026: Standouts 15U

These players showed why they're worthy of being recognized as standout players. Whether it was scoring, rebounding, play-making or defending, each young man had an major impact on their team's success.    Clyde performed like the best point guard in his age bracket Saturday afternoon. He's an excellent ball handler who facilitates and scores whenever he needs to score. Clyde easily broke down the Progeny 2029 UAA defense and made plays. Whether it was getting to the basket, dishing off assists or knocking down three-pointers, Clyde always found ways to be effective on the basketball court. He's an awesome play-maker who always managed to show up in the biggest moments of the game. Clyde was the quickest player on the floor. On numerous occasions, he beat opposing defenders to the basket and scored through contact. This led to multiple three-point play opportunities from the foul-line. Defensively, he excelled at pressing opposing guards into mistakes. A number of steals led to transition points for him and teammates. I truly enjoyed watching this young man play at the level he showed Saturday afternoon. Clyde is a great young player with a bright future ahead of him.     Jayden continues to be a dynamic player who can do it all on the basketball court. This is my second write up of Jayden since I watched him play in the 8th grade. He was a fierce competitor who did whatever it took to win. Well, after watching him play on Saturday, I clearly saw nothing has changed. He's become a better ball handler and facilitator. Jayden had a number of assists that led to high percentage shots for his teammates. In regard to scoring, he continues to be a player who can make shots from all areas of the court. Whether it's attacking the paint, beating defenders off the dribble, scoring from mid-range or knocking down threes, Jayden was tough to handle for the opposition. Defensively, he continues to be aggressive on the ball. Jayden forced Team Mookie guards into multiple turnovers with quick hands and excellent timing. He even had a couple of chase down blocks from behind. I expect big things from this young man in the coming years. Jayden was part of a State Championship team last season, so the future is very bright. He finished the game with (19 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals.)     He's a very skilled big man who showed the ability to play in or outside the paint. Reece showed a variety of post moves that led to easy scores around the basket. He's also an excellent rebounder. Reece dominated the glass on both ends of the court. Many of his scores came by grabbing his teammates' missed shots. Reece has great hands. His passing skills are elite. Anytime he had a position in the post, Reece excelled at finding open teammates for high percentage shots. When the opposing team doubled him, Reece was able to make them pay on a regular basis. I was thoroughly impressed when I saw him knock down perimeter shots and three-pointers. I didn't expect him to have a nice touch from the outside. Most of his damage was done in the paint Saturday afternoon. On defense, he protected the paint and made scoring difficult for the opposition. Reece is a great all around talent at his age. I expect big things from this young man in the near future.     Parker continues to be a presence in the paint. When I wrote him up last year, he was the most dominant player on the basketball court. On Saturday, Parker showed the ability to defend smaller players on the perimeter to go along with dominating the glass. He excelled at rebounding and scoring in the paint versus the opposition. Parker finished the game with a double-double in points and rebounds. In some circumstances, he was able to score baskets through contact and convert multiple three-point play opportunities. On defense, Parker continues to be a force in the paint. He blocked shots and showed his versatility by defending smaller players on the wing. I expect him to have a breakout season next year during the high school basketball season. Parker is a special player who could play a major role in the success of Warren Central basketball.     Jojo is an excellent two way player who plays effectively on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he's a dynamic scorer who can get to the basket, make precision passes and knock down three-pointers. Throughout the game, he converted four shots from well beyond the arc. Whenever he had one-on-one match-ups, Jojo was able to effectively create the space he needed to get off a three or attack the basket. He also scored in transition when the opportunity was available to run the floor. Jojo is a player who does everything the team needs to be successful. If Team Mookie needed points, rebounds or assists, Jojo had a knack for making plays happen. On defense, he was great at playing the passing lanes and defending on the ball. His pressure and great timing caused numerous turnovers throughout the game. In my opinion, Jojo is capable of becoming an elite player in the coming years.     Christian is athletic guard who happens to be a great two-way player. He gave maximum effort on both ends of the court. On offense, he handles the ball, attacks the paint and knocks down mid-range shots. Christian also showed the capability of extending his range beyond the three-point line. There were sequences in the game where he beat defenders to the basket and scored through contact. Christian was great at making tough shots in the paint. This led to numerous three-point play conversions from the foul-line. He's an aggressive player who stayed in attack mode throughout the game. Defensively, he did a little of everything. Christian played great man-to-man defense, blocked shots and forced multiple turnovers. His overall skills as a scorer and defender will take him far in the game of basketball.
