Some players simply have a knack for putting the ball in the basket. Upshaw Jr. is one of the guys. For a smaller guard he does such a great job of finishing against size at the end of his drives and is very good at creating separation so he can cleanly get off pull-up jump shots both from the mid-range and from beyond the arc. The rising sophomore guard played very well on the offensive end in the game we watched on Tuesday night.

We got to see Michigan City High School play a couple of times last season and in both games Upshaw Jr. would come off of the bench and immediately provide a scoring spark. The 5’8″ guard is an excellent outside shooter with deep range. He is good off of the bounce too, but that shooting ability was always what captured our attention. Upshaw Jr. has had a good spring with Indiana Game on the UA Rise Circuit as well. Averaging 5.9 points per game at the 4A level as a freshman and shooting 31-83 (37.3%) from three-point range will catch your attention.

This freshman came off of the bench for the Wolves and was a big reason why they led at the end of the first quarter. Upshaw Jr. drilled a couple of deep three-point shots and scored 8 points in the first quarter to give Michigan City a big boost off of the bench. He continues to prove himself as one of the best freshman guards in northern Indiana.

One of the most impressive freshmen in the state of Indiana, Upshaw Jr. has stepped up and made a big impact right away at Michigan City High School. The 5’10” guard scored 17 points in an 81-66 loss to Penn on Friday night.
