This Meanstreets 15u squad is both very talented and very balanced without anyone consistently putting up huge scoring numbers. Clay Jr. is one of several guards who contributed to a pair of wins over the weekend in Kansas City. The Gary West Side High School freshman played his best game on Sunday when we were in attendance for a win over Brad Beal Elite. In that matchup Clay Jr. finished with 6 points and 4 rebounds rebounds. He knocked in a deep corner jump shot, attacked the rim for an athletic And-1, and consistently helped on the glass. Clay Jr. is a steadying presence on the floor that contributes to winning in a variety of ways.

At 6’2, Clay Jr. can play both on and off the ball pretty well and plays at his pace. He has a well-rounded skillset paired with a smooth jump shot for being an underclassman. A under-the-radar two-guard to keep an eye on in June.

Clay Jr. is poised beyond his years. This game between Gary West Side and East Chicago Central was played at a very fast pace that bordered on hectic a lot of times. However, the freshman played without getting sped up and was comfortable both on and off of the ball. He has good size at a 6’2″, a smooth jump shot, and an impressive all-around skill set. Clay Jr. had 6 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists for the Cougars.

This 6’2″ guard wasted no time making his presence felt at the varsity level this season. Clay Jr. is a talented shot-maker and all-around playmaker for Gary West Side High School. The Cougars have now won five straight and remain a very dangerous team in the Class 3A North. Clay Jr., even as a freshman, is a big reason why they should not be slept on come tournament time.
