Here are my standouts from Saturday at the Riverside Brookfield Shootout.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552475' first='Marquis' last='Clark'] Whitney Young 2026

Clark played motivated this morning. He went through a stretch where he didn't miss a shot for several minutes. Marquis plays at a smooth and steady pace. At times you never know if he's having a bad or good game. He's difficult to guard when he gets in his bag. Marquis put a few guys in the freezer as he blew past them with crossovers and spin moves. He would also lure guys to sleep on the perimeter with iso moves that led to spot-on jump shots. Clark finished with 28 points.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552393' first='Gabriel' last='Sularski'] Lemont 2026

Another good start to the day for Gabriel as he scored 27 points getting to the basket and putting pressure on Young's smaller defenders. Gabe played to his hits with straight-lined drives to the rim off top of the key ball screens. When he got downhill he either scored or made a good assist. At 6'7 Sularski is figuring out other ways to be successful without launching a ton of threes.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531973' first='Brady' last='Pettigrew'] Bolingbrook 2028

Pettigrew made the morning session exciting. His three-level scoring was a treat in itself. He has an extra boost to the game that many players don't possess. Fluid jumper and athletic finishes. Brady was good on defense too getting steals guarding 94 feet at times. In this short time as the go-to scorer for Bolingbrook he is pushing for the top spot in the class.

[player_tooltip player_id='2531981' first='Cole' last='Kelly'] Nequa Valley 2028

Kelly is already regarded as one of the better players in the state and #1 in his class. The shooting performance he put on seemed like just another day for Cole. In a very scrappy game he managed to hit 6 threes and lead all scorers with 28 points. It's so crazy to think he's only been in high school for 1 year when he plays like he's been on the court for 4 years already. Kelly is a special prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323622' first='Damari' last='Stephens'] Kenwood 2027

Stephens has stepped into the top spot at Kenwood and his first glance went well at R-B. The 6'4 guard was tough to defend. Getting in the lane and scoring with spin moves and two-foot finishers through contact. Damari is strong and likes to initiate contact before getting his buckets. He plays a different type of bully ball. He drained a few from three and at that point he put the game out of reach.

[player_tooltip player_id='1552440' first='Adam' last='Anwar'] McHenry 2026

Got my first look at Adam and was impressed with how he played with and already has a college-ready frame. At 6'7 his shooting mechanics were good from the top of the key and he drained 4 threes in the game. He could carve up space in the paint and score over guys that made him look promising. Anwar plays with a strong motor but is very fundamentally sound with the ball. He grabbed well over 10 rebounds in the game while finishing with 28 points. Division 2 should check in on him on Sunday.

[player_tooltip player_id='2323571' first='Jaxson' last='Davis'] Warren 2028

Yes, the best performances of the day had to be spoken about. Davis went for 38 points in a blowout victory over Leo. He scored from all over hitting several threes, shots from mid-range, and was fouled a few times while scoring at the basket.

Notable Duos on Saturday

Downers Grove South

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='1552395' first='Sean' last='Day'] 6'5 and [player_tooltip player_id='2323275' first='Adam' last='Flowers'] 6'3 both were good and had their own moments. Day shot it well from three using good spacing away from the ball to knock 'em down. Flowers is skilled with the ball he made a few shots too but was effective at touching paint and scoring off some difficult shots at the basket.

Glenbard North

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2125660' first='Lamari' last='Carpenter'] and 2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2455373' first='Oturo' last='Redento']

Carpenter scored 20 points playing with athleticism and speed in transition. Redento is a skilled wing who made shots from the perimeter and at the rim he had 18 points.

Kenwood

2026 [player_tooltip player_id='2376277' first='Prince' last='McCord'] and Jumir Aguda -Batie

Both of these players are 6'7 with long wingspans and athleticism around the basket. McCord likes to battle on the offensive glass and is likely to keep multiple possessions alive for the Broncos. Jumir is a bounce athlete who had a pair of two-handed power dunks that energized his bench.
