Expert Analysis
Joshua Burish | Prep Hoops Scout
Carpenter’s three-point shot was off for most of the night, but he still found ways to use his athleticism and get to the rim with craftiness. His pressure in the interior and quick second jump allowed him to make plays at the rim and force his way to the foul line, where he went 5-for-8. At times it looked like he was settling for threes to avoid York’s size inside, but it was still encouraging to see him continually attack the rim and showcase his playmaking. He finished with 12 points.

It was a slow start for Carpenter as he only scored four points in the first half, but the top 20 junior erupted in the third quarter taking his game and team to another level as he scored 15 points. The lead went from four to out of control just like that. What you like about this junior is his fluid athleticism, shot making, and transition scoring. He made shots off movement throughout the night along with a slick step back three. Won on straight line takes along with finishing at the rim with his off hand multiple times. In transition he is a force with his speed and ability to throw it down. Played quite a bit on the ball as well in this game. He had 21 points.
