In the title game the Select guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140707' first='Waleed' last='Muhammad'] got what he wanted throughout the game.

Waleed Downhill to Gold

One of my favorite things to see in basketball is when a player finds something that works, abandons trying to show off "other parts of the game", and just fires up results for their team. That is what [player_tooltip player_id='2140707' first='Waleed' last='Muhammad'] did for [program_tooltip program_id='2075685' first='Minnesota' last='Select'] last weekend against the Titans in the title game.

Regardless if it was transition or in the halfcourt, the Titans couldn't move with Waleed. His downhill attack got him shots in the paint, or foul shots, and he connected on all of it. Waleed shot nine of ten from the floor and seven of nine from the foul line. It was a 25 point day.

Muhammad was a solid player for the Breck Mustangs all winter and the way he is playing now we expect him to move into an even bigger, Class AA All State potential role.

Double Your Success

Sunday morning after the Select Saturday success we talked about [player_tooltip player_id='2412724' first='Dre' last='Collins'] going at everybody for big numbers. He doubled down on that on Sunday with a double-double in the title game!

The Richfield explosive forward put together a 23 point, 12 rebounds performance against the Titans making 10 of 14 field goals for an all event style performance. Between his every game performance and what [player_tooltip player_id='2140700' first='Tyrece' last='Hagler'] is doing for Select (16 points in the title game) I think Dre and Tyrece are going to double success in AAU and High School in 2025!

Miller Makes Big Impact

One of the bigger impacts made in my mind this weekend was [player_tooltip player_id='2136339' first='Adryan' last='Miller'] from [program_tooltip program_id='2075310' first='Northstar' last='Titans'] and Edina High School.

In watching the Titans play in the semi-finals and finals, when the opponents were the toughest, he was the most consistent from what I could see.

Miller has grown to about 6'6 and that lengthy, skilled frame led to post up scores as well as face-up scores. There is range to the jumper, he faced up and hit out of the post, and when the ball moved to Miller he used a dribble into the mid-range touch. He had 20 points and nine rebounds in the semi-finals and another 15 points in the title game. Throw in 13 in the quarterfinal win and 16 in the opener and it was a great weekend for Miller.

Quick Hitters

[player_tooltip player_id='2126166' first='Jaylan' last='Hynes']. Loved the way Jaylan played for Select scoring when he had the angles or high percentage chances, he took away one of the top Titans scoring options for the full game, Jaylan had six rebounds and four assists. He's an all around contributor, an all around player that helps teams win.

Six-foot-8 [player_tooltip player_id='1819128' first='Bryce' last='Gaustad'] grabbed himself 42 rebounds in the final four games for the [program_tooltip program_id='2075310' first='Northstar' last='Titans']. I thought he looked all of 6'8 and he used his size well on the glass and contesting shots.

[player_tooltip player_id='2140543' first='Akeem' last='Everett'] had DeLaSalle written all over him in playing for Minneapolis Central. Ball pressure, moving the basketball intelligently with good post entry passes and quick reversals, plus the right attacks in the halfcourt and transition push to help his team get a lot of wins.

In the title game the Select guard Waleed Muhammad got what he wanted throughout the game.
