Class AAA State Tournament: We give you the Seeds 1-8

Now that the Class AAA State Tournament field is set, what should the seeds look like? We give you our thoughts at NHR tonight! We should know the field tomorrow but we can't wait so we predict NOW

Section 1AAA: Northfield (25-3)

Section 2AAA: Mankato East (21-7)

Section 3AAA: Minneapolis South (21-8)

Section 4AAA: DeLaSalle (26-3)

Section 5AAA: Totino-Grace (24-2)

Section 6AAA: Richfield (27-2)

Section 7AAA: Grand Rapids (24-5)

Section 8AAA: Sartell (21-8)

What do we think the seeds should look like?

(1) Totino-Grace vs (8) Minneapolis South

(4) Northfield vs (5) Mankato East

(2) DeLaSalle vs (7) Grand Rapids

(3) Richfield vs (6) Sartell

This is a little bit tougher to separate. First the easier stuff.... TG beat Richfield, DeLaSalle and Richfield split with DeLaSalle winning the more recent game. Eagles beat Richfield by 14 in that meeting and the Eagles beat Maple Grove who DeLaSalle lost to. Northfield and Mankato East split games but the Raiders had the better record against similar opponents with a focus on 11-win team Rochester Century who beat Mankato East twice and Northfield split with them. Northfield also beat East in the more recent game.

Then you have 6-7-8. This is tougher to look through as they have some bad losses (Sartell to Fergus Falls, Grand Rapids to Little Falls, and Minneapolis South to Minneapolis Southwest) but the worst is GR losing to 7-win Little Falls. Looking at the recent stuff, Sartell has won nine straight and moved into the top ten while GR has won eight straight and nine of twelve.

Sartell is ranked as the 7 in the QRF, Grand Rapids is 10th and Minneapolis South is 12th.
