The South Dakota High School basketball season has concluded with the state tournaments now in the books. Prep Hoops Dakotas has one final 2025 rankings update and the update is officially live on the site.

Some state tournament performances had stock-rising implications. We'll look at some stock-risers and also some other key notes about the 2025 class.

You may have noticed there's been continuous movement and volatility in the prospects in the 12-50 range or so. That's for a few reasons. One being, the differences between these prospects is very minimal, so recent play and performance may be given a hand up more than usual. Also, another reason is that, with so many games to watch and prospects to see, I may not see a prospect in this range for possibly a 3-4 week timeframe. I do tend to make sure and watch the top 12 first, then I work my way down the line when it comes to viewing the prospects. So, when I'm finally able to watch a prospect a couple more times, my opinion on them may change for the better or worse.

Prep Hoops Dakotas is sending off the 2025 Senior class with a best of luck, and here we also have 24 2025 prospects mentioned. Let's hear about them.

The #1 ranked 2025 prospect in South Dakota went out in a big way. Goodbary saved his best performance for last, in his most important game of his high school career; Senior year championship game for all the marbles. He was dominant in the state championship win, scoring 32 points and snagging 15 rebounds. The two-time South Dakota Gatorade Player Of The Year is signed with South Dakota State University, who's now in search of a new Head Coach, as the former is now leading Drake University.

Dulaney was just mentioned in a state tournaments stock-risers article, and we give him a final hooray as he moves up into the #4 spot. State AA championship for him and Brandon Valley. Soak it in.

Beckman moves up into the #8 spot. The sniper from three and all-around impactful guard — I predict — has an outstanding collegiate career, as he translates beautifully to the next level.

Kieffer moves up a spot in this update, and he just announced his commitment to D2 Black Hills State University. A great fit I believe, and the west river D2 must believe that Kieffer's dynamic game, motor, quickness, scoring, and range shooting overscores his 5'10” size. I think he has a good chance to thrive.

Hammerbeck was removed from the rankings board because he was clearly set on being a next-level football stud, eventually signing with D1 University of Nebraska's football program. Well, he's back on the board and lands at #12, as he's been a force inside for Winner as a rebounder and inside scorer. High motor 6'7” prospect.

Dut's somewhat of a streaky shooter and scorer, but I think he possesses a lot of upside going forward into college, if he can round a few things out and become a more consistent performer. Because he has the prototypical length, skill, and athletic ability to continue to rise up as a player and prospect.

Mach makes a large jump up the board into the top 20. Mayen has massive upside and is not even near his peak. He still needs to put in the skill-work, but he possesses an athletic toolset that is rare for a high school prospect in South Dakota.

Keszler was mentioned as a state tournament stock-riser. And everything holds true, and he rises up into the top 25. He translates to a next-level point guard that can be a scoring threat as an individual creator of offense with the rock in his hands.

Stormo was moved back too far in the last update. I went in and dove into around four more Hamlin games and Stormo's two-way ability was a key piece into Hamlin's success. He's a quick and agile defender with solid size and physicality. His offensive game is something to speak of as well, as his career ends. He's a catch-and-shoot weapon from range, a one-dribble three-ball creator, and is lethal off the dribble with a pull-up game that was one of the best in the entire state.

VanMeeteren gets his justice that is due. He's off to play D1 football at SDSU, but has solid enough size, and his crazy athleticism propels him to be able to have the potential to play college hoops. Motor and high-end vertical. VanMeeteren also showed that a defender needs to give him attention at the three-point line because he can pop open threes.

I wanted to give Mav a final mention, as he put together a great Senior campaign and career. He stepped up and was one of the states top scorers, coming in at the 20 points per game mark. A solid overall profile, just lacking some quick-twitch athleticism and explosiveness.

Baskin has proven to be a highly-recruitable prospect. With numerous offers because of his two-way ability on the court, and his high character and high academics off of it. Finished his high school career going out with a 20-point performance. Oh yeah, and D2 University of Sioux Falls sees a lot in Baskin, as they just added him to their program.

Hinker finally gets his respect, coming in as a top 30 prospect. Doesn't have elite interior height, but he's a bull of a man that can jump out of the gym. Broad shoulders and plays with a physicalness. Can get up easily and dunk with authority from a standstill position.

Dirkes, I really like, with his lengthiness and movement ability. A skilled game with nice touch. Has upside going forward. He's a next level D3/NAIA kid, in my opinion.

Palmier was moved up to his current listed 6'9” height. I viewed the Lower Brule vs Lyman game and Payton has great size. He's a little more skilled and coordinated than I had given him credit for. A soft shooting touch and can actually put the ball on the floor some. A strong rebounder that is a beast on the offensive glass. His most dominant trait being his ability to protect the rim and swat away shots at the rim.

I watched a bunch of Centerville toward the end of the season, and that resulted in me being much higher on Bobzin.
