Expert Analysis
Spencer Christenson | Prep Hoops Scout
VanMeeteren gets his justice that is due. He’s off to play D1 football at SDSU, but has solid enough size, and his crazy athleticism propels him to be able to have the potential to play college hoops. Motor and high-end vertical. VanMeeteren also showed that a defender needs to give him attention at the three-point line because he can pop open threes.

VanMeeteren can be an overlooked prospect in the state with all of the talent surrounding him at Hamlin. But he brings it every game, playing with a bunch of energy and activity. He’s all over the boards and comes up with 50/50 balls and loose balls at a ridiculous rate. He affects the rim on the defensive side at an elite level, using his 6’6” frame and leaping ability.

VanMeeteren was extremely active in this game, getting a ton of offensive tip-outs and offensive boards against Dell Rapids’ 2-3 Zone. I don’t have the stats, but he easily had maybe around 12-15 rebounds and possibly 7-8+ offensive boards. He earned Hamlin extra possessions. He also was protecting the rim and blocked 3-4 shots. He can get up and down the court very quickly for a 6’6” kid. He will need to be moved up the rankings slightly, and I think he can serve to be valuable to a D3/NAIA program with his 6’6” frame and athleticism. Of note, Zac popped a corner three in the game.

4 points – 9 rebounds – 1 block
Zac may have been the most valuable piece for Hamlin in this matchup. He was a workhorse against a lengthy team, pulling down 9 rebounds. He was battling and showing consistency in doing so. Didn’t take plays off and was boxing out, skying for rebounds. Ran the floor hard to get to the paint and get ready to protect it. Only 4 points, but college coaches have to love how he competed in this particular matchup.
