Spencer Christenson | Prep Hoops Scout
Mach makes a large jump up the board into the top 20. Mayen has massive upside and is not even near his peak. He still needs to put in the skill-work, but he possesses an athletic toolset that is rare for a high school prospect in South Dakota.

Mayen was instrumental and a key piece in Brandon Valley winning the State AA championship. He was highly active defensively and was a force and was challenging opponents attempts at the rim. His rebounding and ability to push things up in transition was a key factor for BV.

Mayen was a starter at the Hoop City Classic. I didn’t see Aiden Zerr Aiden Zerr 6'3" | SF Brandon Valley | 2025 State SD play, so he may have be out for some reason unknown to me. Mach definitely impacted the game in various ways. He rebounded the ball, pulling down eight. Blocked shots and affected the rim with three blocks. Had a highlight-reel rundown block that looked like an easy bucket, but Mayen’s closing full-court speed and quick leaping was the difference. His length and vertical was a problem for St. George’s. He played passing lanes and had a steal and transition flush in the 2nd quarter. One of the top prospects in South Dakota when it comes to pure athletic ability, and his finishing ability is improving and he scored 10 points.

Mach highlights the rankings additions, coming in at #28 in his debut. An athletic freak that is a dunking machine and he’s put out some nice highlight dunks out there for everyone to see and enjoy. He has been seen posterizing others. He supplements his athleticism with 6’5 length from the wing. Not quite a refined prospect offensively yet, but he’ll be striving to improve that area with SD Identity in the 2024 offseason. He’ll be on the Prep Hoops Circuit, so we’ll be featuring him on the site.

Now listed at 6’5, Mach is an extremely long guard. Pair that with his extreme athleticism and vertical ability, we’re talking about an impact player. Has to be one of the top overall athletes in the state, with an insane vertical. High-points the ball and can out-jump his opponents for the ball. Had a put-back dunk that looked a little too easy for him. Shot-blocker and contester at the hoop, defensively. Left-handed on the offensive end, where he’s a little raw. Big upside and stock can only go up.
