Owatonna Game Winner to Beat Lakeville South

The Huskies pulled off an upset Thursday night and did at the buzzer after trailing most of the game. 2025 seniors for Lakeville South [player_tooltip player_id='1470706' first='Keaton' last='Ressler'], [player_tooltip player_id='2104512' first='Hudson' last='Greene'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2406398' first='Malachi' last='Gant'] scored 41 of their 55 but one shot at the end erased that.

[player_tooltip player_id='2109917' first='Nolan' last='Ginskey'] and Cole Kruschke combined for 38, each scoring 19 points to lead Owatonna.

Ginskey is a six-foot Winona State committed football player and is a good athlete. 5-time all-state football wide receiver, Ginskey attacks the rim well and puts pressure on the defense as a ball handler.

Kruschke is a six-foot-two-inch guard for the Huskies that is committed to play basketball at Bethany Lutheran. Kruschke gives the Owatonna a good outside shooter who has 10 games at least with at least three 3-pointers made in a single game since December 29th.

Freshman guard [player_tooltip player_id='2384018' first='Cooper' last='Routh'] of Owatonna scored 6 points.

Ressler, a six-foot-one-inch 2025 guard, scored 16.9 points per game for the Cougars. Ressler hit more than 2 3-pointers 20 times this season including 4 3-pointers versus Owatonna and he's committed to Dakota State University for next season.

Gant, a six-foot-one-inch 2025 guard is a solid athlete that gets up and down the floor fairly quickly and at times shoots the ball well from the perimeter. Gant versus Owatonna added 7 assists.

Farmington 57-52 Over Rochester Mayo

End of February I visited Rochester and got a chance to watch Rochester Mayo in person. I was very impressed with [player_tooltip player_id='2133222' first='Elliot' last='Myszkowski']'s ability to handle the ball under pressure and [player_tooltip player_id='2417626' first='Will' last='Gyarmaty']'s ability to score the ball.

In a tight game Thursday night the [program_tooltip program_id='2075852' first='Spartans' last=''] fell to the Farmington Tigers who are trying to get back to state. Farmington, who has had an up and down year at 15-12 and lost 2025 senior [player_tooltip player_id='1575348' first='Cole' last='Wilcek'] to a knee injury, pulled out the victory behind Minnesota State Mankato committed baseball player [player_tooltip player_id='2759772' first='Marshall' last='Gordon'], 2025 senior fellow senior Nik Domier, and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2126447' first='Briggs' last='Sheridan'].

Sheridan, a six-foot-nine-inch 2027 center plays very much of a stretch big man. Good outside shooter as he hit three 3-pointers versus Mayo as part of his 11 points, runs the floor very well, and is a threat around the rim on defense blocking shots.

Farmington sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2126465' first='Tommy' last='Schabert'] is a six-foot-seven-inch 2027 prospect to be on the look out for this spring and summer.

Lakeville North over Rochester Century 85-73

Players to watch from LN are [player_tooltip player_id='2094704' first='Johanes' last='Piscikas'], Dew Kolander, James Fager, and [player_tooltip player_id='1437598' first='Dane' last='Danielson'].

Century's [player_tooltip player_id='2173971' first='Sabir' last='Ahmed'] had a solid senior year although Century went 7-20. Ahmed scored 16.9 points per game and had some pretty big performances like when he scored 32 points on nine made 3-pointers versus Austin.

Rochester John Marshall Victory over New Prague 71-34

End of February I got a close look at John Marshall versus Mayo. [player_tooltip player_id='1450098' first='Eli' last='Ladu'], [player_tooltip player_id='2422069' first='Angok' last='Kucha'], and [player_tooltip player_id='2422068' first='Brayson' last='Sawyer'] showed me a lot in that game. Versus New Prague Ladu scored 22 points while Sawyer added 15 points. Kucha had a steal that led to a dunk and a massive chase down block in the game.

Ladu, a six-foot 2025 guard with a six-foot-three-inch wingspan showed me he can be a problem for opponents with his on ball defense and relentless attacking from the perimeter.

Sawyer is a six-foot-four-inch 2025 wing that can shoot the ball from the perimeter and is a good ball sharer.

Kucha, probably the player with the most potential because of the combination of size and length, can really wreck teams at six-foot-eight-inches. Kucha can give a team a real 3&D wing, and possibly play up a position defensively in the future.

[player_tooltip player_id='1437495' first='Evan' last='Weichert'], a six-foot-five-inch 2025 wing who missed most of the year couldn't offer enough help for New Prague. Versus Waconia the game before Weichert had a double double of 26 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals.
