Malachi has been one of the metro area’s breakout players this season. Against Eagan he poured in 31 points, while also finding ways to dish out a handful of assists. He’s so shifty on the ball, and is able to blow by defenders to the rim, and once there he did a nice job of finishing over the Eagan size with floaters. There are times when Malachi tries to do too much, and it can lead to some turnovers, but that same aggressiveness is also what allows him to produce at a high level, whether he’s scoring on his own or finding an open teammate.

Malachi has been one of the best passers I’ve seen so far this season. He showcased not only impressive court vision against Edina, but also the uncanny ability to fit the ball through the smallest of gaps on the floor. He was threading the needle with accurate bounce passes, and hitting his cutters right on the numbers towards the rim. He’s doing a nice job of filling in for some of that lost production from last year’s senior class.
